Correct, the alternatives are pretty dire. Whilst the manager shoulders responsibility more often than not I think in Norwich's situation the players need to stand up and be counted. Yesterday they were absolutely shocking against us, waved the white flag from the first minute.

The manager can't be held accountable for simple things like players not closing down space. Anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that coming to the Etihad to have even the smallest of chances you mustn't give us space in which to play.

The previous week they had 31shots on goal and drew 0-0 at home to Cardiff - again Houghton shouldn't held be accountable for that. Their players need to take a long hard look at themselves.

agreed. a Norwich striker hasnt scored since week one when RVW scored with a header. thats poor.

though he wont be the 1st to go i think Mourinho is in danger of not being there at start of next season or maybe xmas next year.
of course they could just as soon win Prem and everything is rosy again. you get the impression its a really fine line between success and failure at stamford bridge

the football has hardly been thrilling either - isn't that one of the reasons why he got the push last time?

They haven't improved the defence for about 2 years now and their best player last season can't even get into the starting 11 regularly. The ego seems to be as big as ever.

The side issue - would anyone have him at City? Hindsight is a wonderful gift ;)

I think there could be some closer to home who could be in a similar predicament. And I don't just mean the manager - there's a couple of highly paid Spaniards who nailed their colours to this particular mast. The Sheikh may be very patient, but I suspect he expects results for the money he spends.

I doubt Pellegrini is in any great danger. He was handpicked for the job and has at least two seasons. And our best performances have been amazing. Our worst simply horrible though.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

No he doesn't have two seasons, no titles and he's out.

Dont think Pellers or the 2 Spanish fellas need worry at the moment. Still in all comps, though the league form is worrying with 4 losses already against teams we expect to beat. Poss exception of Chelsea. Finish 4th or lower without a cup and Pellers is a goner in the summer. 5 year plan or no 5 year plan

Am hoping for a backlash from Spuds tomorrow. 3-2 with Townsend getting a late winner would go down nicer than the wife at xmas

Am hoping so too but from what I saw on Thursday London will have two extra on the Job Seekers listings ...

Am I imagining this or do teams always sack their manager just a while before we play them?

I would've gladly gone to the cottage to face Jol's Fulham but not as confident now they'll have new manager everyone wants to impress
(Not that we shouldn't come away with three points anyway but still)

Not PL, but anyone surprised to see Coyle go? Big surprise for me was not his sacking but that he was ever appointed. Very unimpressive at Bolton, little track record. He is an articulate man, but I never felt like he would deliver..... Talk the talk etc
