Time to Judge Pellegrini After Next 6 Away Games

Postby zabbadabbado » Sun Nov 10, 2013 8:20 pm

4 defeats with just 1 win, and 1 draw out off our first 6 away games has given us just 4 points from a possible 18 points available.

If that trend continues as it is likely to considering we still have the more difficult away trips. We could be looking at amassing just 8 to 10 points from our next 13 away trips.

Even if we win all our remaining home games and secure the maximum 57 points adding the based on current form 8 to 10 points from the away trips leaves us finishing on 65 points or 67 points.

70 points is the bare minimum for a top 4 finish, on current form we are not going to achieve it.

I understand that the Sheik wants a holistic approach at the Club. But surely finishing in the top 4 is absolutely essential for our future development ?

I like Pellegrini, the football has been great (at home),but I would much rather win every game 1-0 and finish in the top 4 than disastrously miss out on our bread and butter and progression.

In my opinion he needs to be averaging more than 4 points from our next 6 away games or the axe should fall in January, we start at West Brom then travel to ,Southampton, followed by a visit to Fulham then we have away trips to Swansea ,Newcastle and end with a visit to Spurs on the 29th January .By then if we are not averaging much more than 4 points from those 6 away visits then we need to sack him immediately and replace him because we can not afford to drop out off the top 4.Winning all our home games wont be enough for a top 4 finish, we need the man with just 1 away win in the last 10 away games for Malaga and City to get his act together now.

We won 2 away in champions league and 1 in the league cup. Our away form is poor in the league but ok overall.

Yes it is.

But everything at our Club revolves around us being in the media spotlight ie:revenue etc, that only comes with a top 4 finish in the League.

Simply not good enough. Out of the away games played already we should have a got a minimum of 12- 15 points out of 18. Only one of them was difficult - Chelsea, the rest should be three points, with maybe the odd draw. 4 is abysmal. Its got to the point where we will have to win 5 of the next 6 away to get back into the race.

I'm not buying this great attacking football thing. I preferred bobbys approach, build from the back. Not the best to watch but losing to the likes of villa, Cardiff, Sunderland etc is getting annoying. And let's not forget we played some awesome stuff in 2011-12, especially the first half.

That said bobby couldn't master the Sunderland curse either.

Not sure about the manager, he's here so we may as well back him. The players however, they need a fucking good kick up the arse.

exactly.

January might be the time where the 2 Spaniards will have to decide to stick or bust.Their heads might roll yet anyway, replacing a manager for a man who has had no success off note (and interestingly his away record with most his clubs has been dog shit)they might ultimately pay the price unless finishing out the top 4 is an acceptable scenario for our owners.

I wouldn't.

I would rather try to find a manager who succeeds by playing the kind of football we are trying to play now . If the Count fails, then someone else with the same kind of attitude.

Personally I will not accept long periods of boring football with our resources. Go down that route again & I'm off.

And the Count hasn't failed yet. If we are struggling for decent results later in the season, with a full strength team, then he will be looking dodgy.

Every team has injuries Ted, I dont think he should be allowed to use that as an excuse. With the squad we have we should murder the likes of Sunderland, Cardiff, Villa etc- their squads are shite compared with ours.

But history shows us that doesn't happen with this squad. We have fucked up every year when a few players have gone missing. Every time, without fail.
