Of the 7 teams above us, we've only played 3, 2 at home, so we can't complain we've had a hard start. Due to the other results, we're not out of the title race yet, but we can't afford many more slip ups away and none at home.

On the grounds he's still learning about the PL, he's done OK, but he has to do better, or the whole project could be in trouble - would Aguero stay without CL football? Yaya? Silva?

Of the 7 teams above us, one is 6 points ahead, one 4 points ahead, one 3 points ahead, one 2 points ahead three one point ahead.

None of them are any good. Why can't we afford any slip ups away from home or at home ?

Why are people assuming that we can't beat any of these teams or that they won't drop points ? Were we that much worse than Chelsea or Utd ? Did Arsenal lose at home to Aston Villa ? Did Chelsea lose at Newcastle & just need the ref to rescue them v West Brom ?

Where are you lot getting the evidence from, that we can't lose games ? I expect us to lose games & I expect them all to lose games. If Arsenal lose a couple more than us, it's evened out. If they lose to us & draw one, that's 4 points.

Can we not stop with this bollocks ? None of you know who is going to beat who this season, all teams have got fuckups in them, including us & none look like solving it in a hurry.

Just think of the opportunity we are missing though. This squad is head and shoulders above any in this league and should have had at least 7-9 more points than we have. Its just not good enough.

From a defensive point of view I find it hard to see how our squad is head and shoulders above the rest. For gods sake when kompany is out we're shit.
Are our keepers head and shoulders above the rest?
Head and shoulders lol.

John, scroll up, there's plenty of grief for Pellegrini in this and many other threads. I'd say the description of Sunderland as being a Mancini type is reasonable as it was as bad as the worst from last year. Next season we'll probably refer to a poor performance from the new manager as being Pellegrini type, so don't get so touchy.

pelle just doesnt seem to iron out the mistakes him and the team are making away from home, yes weve had injuries but so has every other team, looking at the away games are we a team that when we get kompany and silva get injured we dont operate?
playing the likes of garcia is ludicrous i dont know what pelle sees in the fella, as for richards on sun if hes trying to get a contract then he sure looks like hes doing the opposite.
im pretty disatisfied atm as we dont learn from our mistakes, anyone who thinks were gonna win the chumps league are deluded, play your best team every week (bar the league cup) get some consistency in players, not chop and change and when a player get the chance they have to grab it not fuck it up (richards etc)

Why people are getting so touchy when the current manager gets compared to the last.

Has that not being going on since football began?

This is getting weird now. Might duck out for a while.

pretty strange ya ... it's fair to compare, seeing as we lost away 0-1 in every game mancini played against sunderland. Oh take me back to the heady days of Mark Hughes!

The comparison is made because we had hoped to be moving away from that type of away performance (me, at least), and it's definitely not protecting Pelle in anyway, it's actually a pretty damning indictment of our results at present.

I hate coming on here after a loss, but it's when you usually end up seeing a lot of people's real opinions.

I've downgraded to neither/unsure. It should probably be an unsatisfied at this point, really. But I am still really happy about our progress in the champs league, and we're only 6 points off the top. And some of the attacking stuff we've put together looks miles ahead of anyone else.

BUT we're inconsistent, we play a different CB pair every game, we start Garcia in pivotal roles and we play like shit away from home.

Need to begin addressing those before I'll go back up again.

You've completely misinterpreted my point. Well done.
I wasn't saying it was Mancini's fault. I was saying that performance at Sunderland was reminiscent of the same shite Mancini all to often served up away from home. Slow build up and no penetration.
It was a criticism of Pellegrini.
As you were.

If this was true then why are we 8th and struggling to get points away from home? Our first XI is amongst the best the Premier League has to offer - not so sure about the rest of the squad...

You are comparing us with the sides around us which is fair enough. Im comparing us with us before we sacked our manager and spent another 100 mill and with standards WE should strive to. This isn't "bollocks " just reasonable expectations

The 'bollocks' I am referring to is the theme that is starting to appear where people are saying 'we've blown the league' or 'if we lose here & do do this...or don't do that..we are fucked' it's all bollocks. The league is different this season. All the top teams are capable of big improvement (bar the rags who were at their peak on Sunday ) but all are capable of losing three games in a row, or losing 1, drawing 2. The lower/mid table teams are all more of a threat to take points from anyone than they have been in recent years, but also are still all beatable for a team who goes on a run. Likewise, of course we can't lose all our away games & challenge, but City haven't looked like a team who will continue to lose away from home, barring Chelsea, (& Newcastle Lg Cup) we have been miles better than the oppo in every game since Stoke & apart from the Garcia inspired period v Sunderland, we have been on top almost fom start to finish, including v Chelsea.

Teams who do that away from home don't keep losing forever. When have you ever seen teams who dominate away from home every week, with the oppo barely getting in a shot, finish a season with a shit away record ? It doesn't happen; they start winning, a lot .

The danger for City isn't what happens if we keep playing this way, it's what happens if we lose confidence & stop playing this way; then we are genuinely in trouble.

I agree totally with those who say we have missed a big opportunity, that's 100% true, we could be well away at the top now.

But this fantastic team we are being compared with who wins at Stoke Sunderland Chelsea & West Ham & would certainly have beaten Cardiff. Someone send me a video because the one I've been watching struggles like fuck against teams like that but might scrape a stuffy one nil at Aston Villa, then fucking lose in Russia.

Please tell me about this wonderful Stoke/Sunderland beating team I've been missing; sounds fantastic.

Yeah, maybe that's better.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

You're quite right John and I find it wierd that we can't talk about Pellers without Mancini's name being brought up and used negatively. Mancini wasn't there, he was losing his own game in Turkey.

I can understand the protectionism as I've done it on many occassions but our away form in the league needs to be questioned. The 1st time it happened you can shrug your shoulders and look forward to the next game. The 2nd time you can sort of do it but when you hit the 3rd and 4th, knowing we've only picked up 4 points from a possible 18, then you've got to start questioning what is going on.

And Ted, it's OK saying the teams above us are shit but the reality is that the 7 teams aren't contiuously as shit as us. The table doesn't lie.

And to finish, and this is not a omparison with Mancini as the only comparison can be made on the players, how many points did we have after 11 games last season compared to this? I checked last time and a few jumped on my back so I'll let somebody else have a look this time.

Quite a few said last season was pathetic but compared to this, I'm not to sure.
In the words of my Old Man, "Life will never be the same without Man City, so get it in while you can".
