All S**t opposition apart from one.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

All S**t opposition apart from one.

Remember when we battered Newcastle ? TV highlights: worst defending anyone has ever seen, team got big problems etc.

Battered Norwich: worst defending anyone has ever seen, team got big problems etc.

Battered Spurs: worst defending anyone has ever seen, team got big problems etc.

Battered Utd: City as good as Barca but Utd need to tighten up a bit to retain their title.

The guardian was quite complementary today I thought.

That said we clearly aren't very loved in the media since most journalists didn't grow up as City fans, so naturally its a bit more difficult for us to come across praise. As long as we keep battering sides week out then I don't really care what they write.

I'm in the Sale office today and local rags (contradiction in terms?) are saying exactly this. Plus we had the help if the ref against Everton, Hull were unlucky and West Ham had no strikers.

Who cares though?

What's even more frustrating about watching pundits rip into spurs defence is that before the game they were talking about how great they were! Best defence in the league! Glenn Hoddle even said Dawson needs to go to Brazil next year! I've always thought Dawson is really poor.

Read a few of the spuds forums, they slated Dawson and think he is a championship player!

Out of all the prem teams we have played at home Hull were by far the best imo.But us not getting credit for being a fearsome scoring machine is taking the piss.

We've scored more league goals at home than any other side has in total. Perhaps no one else has played Spurs, Norwich and the rags with their poor defences so far.

Either way, I'm happy to be ignored by the press to keep the pressure off us until it's too late and we've won it.

You cant batter people and make their defense look good at the same time - you would think that would be a no brainer for the experts

All great results but Norwich honestly was the worst defending I've ever seen. Great result regardless as you have to take your chances.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

At times, true. Some games I get frustrated it's not 10 as we look like scoring every time go forward. When we play at home and at pace, it's a thing of beauty.

Some of us need to accept that demolishing the likes of rags, spuds, Norwich etc was due to them being simply shit sides. If we can replicate such displays against Munich, Chelsea or any other top side, I'll give full credit to us being a super side. Give Arsenal and Liverpool a reality check when we meet them, and the media will go on and on about how superior we are, something they already acknowledging right now.

The Norwich game reminded me of a couple of home games vs Arsenal under Royle then Keegan when they scored 4 in about 20 minutes and then just strolled through the rest of the game. The difference in quality between the two sides then was so vast, there was no point moaning about losing as we'd have stood a better chance playing the All Blacks at rugby.

Whether Norwich were poor or not, we made them look like they hadn't played the game before. We also did it to the rags for an hour and Spurs. Let's hope we add Swansea and Arsenal to that list over the next few weeks and at least win the away games, regardless of the score

So last seasons run away champions are a shit side we should just expect to beat?
We should also just expect to put six past one of the top teams in the league who also had the best defensive record?
Abd we can't call ourselves good because we haven't done it to bayern?
Your thought process is mental!

Daft as it may seem, if we had managed to draw the four games we've lost which, given the way the actual games went, wouldn't have been too unrealistic to visualise, we'd now be breathing down Arsenic Whinger's neck and the media would, surely, be singing a different song than at present.

Or would they ??..........

Media is so London centric that everything we ever do will only be seen from the perspective of the London club (btw include United as one of these).
Just wait for the start of the player of the year awards! Even though Silva wasn't as good last year he still outperformed Mata in all the key stats and yet Mata (last year) was the media darling.
For virtually all the papers today the story has been one of Spurs humiliation and not our excellent victory.
Maybe if we can stuff Arsenal and Chelsea this season as we have United and Spurs then we will get respect.
Best of all for us will be to do well in the champions league. And in particular avenge our own humiliation vs Munich.

Spurs were awful. they have just lost at home to toon and Wham for fooks sake so nothing new.But our display was sublime, full of pace, skill and power. We will beat Swansea easily as well. but if we can beat Arsenal convincingly I will begin to get really excited. To me the question is still how to grind out wins away in adversity. I agree with Souness(I usually do).Away from home Ya Ya and Ferndinho just haven't been destructive enough. It looks like Pellers is going to ignore this and just try to outplay the oppo with positive attacking football. We would all love that to work, but some of us with long memories think ultimately we will need to be more pragmatic. Fascinating to watch the project developing.Worry? Garcia on the pitch again.
