I've been asked by staff at MCFC and by journalists if Sunday's opening goal is City's fastest of all time. It is definitely City's fastest in the Premier League, but I've already posted on my facebook and twitter accounts details of a faster goal by a City player than Sunday's - Kevin Reeves V Crystal Palace in 1980-81 13 seconds:

There's a website out there that claims our fastest goal was scored by David Cross after 2 minutes (Hmm!), but there have been plenty faster than that. Obviously, there was Aguero's the other year, and others (Geovanni) less than a minute. If anyone can remember and have evidence for a quicker goal for City from the start of the game than 13 seconds then I'd be keen to hear about it. We'll never conclusively know our fastest goal before 1992 as some early goals were simply reported in ways such as 'from the kick off xxxx scored' with no comment on specific time, and film of games is obviously not comprehensive. But it would be worth searching our memories for other goals that may have been quicker than Reeves' in 1980.
There are a few other goals worth remembering, such as Shaun Goater netting after 9 seconds when he came on V Utd in 2003, but obviously that's not the same as a goal from the start of play (but it was a remarkable achievement and goal!).
Obviously City've also conceded a few fast goals - Munich, 1955 FAC final, and Shearer for NUFC (once the fastest in Premier League - 10 secs - but now second fastest I think).
I also know that Swift conceded a goal in 1948-49 after 7 seconds - he still hadn't thrown his cap into the back of the net at that point!
But if you know and have evidence of quicker City goals it would be worth sharing them here. Cheers.
