Only after we went 2 up did we start to believe in ourselves and come the second half, Spuds were nowhere to be seen.

That said, it was something we can be proud of and salute the team, but let's not think that was a brilliant all round performance. Just bringing some realism and context to the debate.

On another thought, who in that line up would make way for Merlin when he is fit again..

It could have been ten.

We were excellent. And from my days watching football, it's generally the first two goals are the hardest to put away, if it's going to end up being a battering.

We were superb tactically first half on the whole & we played counter attacking football, which looked like scoring every time we went forward, wheras Spurs had possession but only one chance, when it was cleared off the line. Before we scored, we had Aguero clean through & what should have been a pen for a tackle from behind, which is now illegal whether you get the ball or not. And he actually only got the ball with his ankle, as his foot was over the ball with both feet off the floor.

If VK or JL got penned for doing that v scousers, rags , Arse etc, not a single ref in the country would say it was wrong.

They just interpret the rules as they feel.

Err , we are beatable and have already lost 4 times in the league this season cos our defence is shit .

Err and 6 nil v Spuds i will take every fucking single day thanks . Oh and 4 -1 v the rags and 7 nil v Norwich and 3 v Everton thanks again. Vinny and Silva almost ready , just need Joe Hart back to his very best and things could get very very sweet indeedy.

You've got to admit he's good in the air though.

Was a great tackle.
Just about the only good thing Spurs did today.

I know these are accepted as decent tackles but my point is that the ball is still going forward in front of Nasri and if the tackle hadn't have taken him out then he would still have a chance, surely?

I see what you're saying, but I still think it was a god tackle. Football is becoming less and less of a contact sport as it is, without cracking down on good sliding tackles.

Yes agree it was a good tackle. Unfortunately all too often in the 'modern game' (a rather annoying piece of terminology) a 'good challenge' is often penalised and you regularly hear pundits and commentators saying things like he got the ball first but also got some of the man' - well in my book that constitutes a good challenge in most instances. If you play the ball as a defender when sliding in you can't suddenly change your momentum, but that's what is being asked by refs in the 'modern game' meaning that as a defender you can't challenge.

There's a difference between a reckless challenge and a well timed challenge, both could see the player being challenged on his arse. Refs then have to make a decision, if they haven't seen it clearly and the player being challenged yelps out and/or takes a couple of tumbles then the outcome is more often than not the same - a free kick in favour of the player being challenged.

You only have to look at Wes Brown's red card yesterday to understand how crazy this part of the game has now become.

Have to agree with all of that.
