do we really need 4 strikers?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I like having Aguero and Negredo and a player like Jovetic (i am undecided on him as we havent seen anything yet).

As for the 4th, I am not so sure. Dzeko needs to bugger off but I dont know if we need a like-for-like replacement

Dzeko after today's sulking performance can fuck off ... we have Guidetti or Pozo as fourth/fifth strikers that we can use ... JoJo as third (he just needs to get fit ... and stay away from Rodwell).

Imo both of you clearly do not know what you are talking about. We need Edin, Sergio and the Beast. Jove isn't a striker , like any of those three , expected to hold the line up front.

All three are more than capable of producing the goods for us

We're making a habit of buying strikers made out of glass.
Bojinov, RSC and now Jovetic.

Really hope the latter can get fit and a run of games going.

No , not necessary your sentiment is clear about Edin. So when negredo has a few off games will you be calling for his head too.

Some come on here just to vent their daily anger. It's a long campaign. From this week on i think we have almost two games a week until the xmas season is over, we need to be able to mix the play up.

Edin was poor last night but still bagged a goal - that's his number one job.

Obviously second fiddle behind the beast - sad thing is I don't think he has the stomach to fight to be number one

But last night he certainly managed to be number two. Really number two.

Imo we need four strikers, but we need each one to offer something which makes you think: 'play him'.

We have consistently signed the wrong strikers for quite a few years. Aguero, Tevez & now Negredo being the only top quality ones out of a long list. The rest have all been badly flawed in one way or another & largely unable to play to the highest standard, together or alone.

Dzeko last night, only started to look like a Prem standard player when Negredo came on to do his job for him & Jovetic imo is not a 'striker' at all. He could operate as a bogus striker in one of those Pep Guardiola 6 man midfield kind of setups, but he isn't a proper striker he's a No 10 or even a No 8.

If Negredo & Aguero both got injured long term, imo we would be fucked, even with four 'strikers' at the club, unless we changed to 'Pep' style. It was the same with Aguero & Tevez. Balotelli & Dzeko weren't good enough to lead the team for any length of time & we would have won nothing if left with just those two.

The 4th striker though, should be a homegrown player ideally imo, & we may soon be in the position to make that happen.

Also last night, Nasri was way better than Dzeko when pushed upfront, so there's another option to play off a No9 striker.

Couldn't agree more. It goes back to what you were saying in your other thread, it's about having the right blend. Having a young hungry goalscorer eager to prove his worth is a lot better than having a player with all the ability in the world but lacking the desire to apply that ability consistently.

For me the right blend would be a veteran, two in their prime and a young eager beaver.

I think Dkeko showed his true colurs last night, those being, "I cannot compete with those around me". He was wasteful with possession, tried the impossible and his post goal celebration spoke volumes.

Funny considering the source of that question.

I guess I'm just impressed you were able to spell "IQ".
