He played for Wales because he was Welsh. He played for England school boys as he was schooled in England nothing to do with being English or Welsh. Not a very nice man to cheat on his family etc but can't be knocked as a player. Nearly a 1000 league games under his belt, won all the majors in club football and still going strong at 40. I'm told his fitness levels are as good as any young player. Sorry but you cant not respect that. I don't think we will ever see the likes of him again.

Agreed. I find it particularly weird that we can't have a discussion about a United player, without about 50% of this board ruining the thread by going' he's a rag cunt and the most overhyped player ever and anyone that thinks he's good is a closet rag'
it just makes us look bitter. On their forums, they seem to be able to (mostly) discuss our players objectively without taking the party line of 'he's a blue cunt and therefore shit'.
By all means give them shit on derby days and what not but it's a football forum and we should be able to discuss a players footballing ability no matter who he plays for.

To be perfectly fair, some people with long memories still remember the pre-meditated foul by George Best on Glyn Pardoe, which ended his career (he had to be rushed to hospital and he came within minutes of losing his leg).
Moreover some people still remember the pre-meditated foul by Martin Buchan on Colin the King, which virtually ended his career (and the way that Buchan was laughing about it on the pitch thereafter).
In further consideration, there is also Roy Keane's pre-meditated foul on Alfie Haaland which ended his career (and which Keane boasted about in his book).
These three examples alone, notwithstanding the overall sour 'history' between City and the Scum, especially during the more recent Ferguson past, are enough for some to feel real animosity to the Swamp-dwellers, their fans and their players.
On that basis, you can't blame anyone for not feeling charitable towards Giggs, given the character flaws in the man's make-up and the way he has conducted himself.

At last a post with some sense. I am not in the least bit ashamed to hate United. For me it goes with being from Manchester and being old enough to remember Glyn Pardoe's assault by the drunken failure of a man who carried on drinking after some poor soul had given him his liver. I was at the game when that bastard did for Alf. Not only was i there i was in the seats behind the Stretford end courtesy of a friend with a block of exec seats and had me as a guest so long as I shut up if we scored. When Alf was carried off you should heard the chants of delight coming not only from the Stretford end but the monied up day trippers in the exec seats.
Make no mistake this club is a cancer. A gangrenous pustule of a boil on the arse of football and I wish with all my heart any kind of woe befalls them, starting with the receivers when they eventually don't get into europe - altho they will insist they should be there by right forever.
For all those who reckon United are a team of good chaps past and present I have only two words to say to you and one is off. Enjoy your sky coverage and your spritzers if you like but City is my club. A Manchester club. A community club. It may be many things now that it wasn't when I was younger but one thing it will never be is a place where Ryan Dregs or any other "great United footballer" is going to be treated with anything other than hatred.

As far as the number of posts initiated by the rag hating dog's owner goes ive just counted them and they're 50/50. I don't start that many though, the previous one being "drop Hart" which continues to run 2 months later, so not altogether uni-directional and stating that 90% are United hating is using hyperbole to advance a prejudiced predisposition.
In my opinion sleeping with your brother's wife isn't the solitary issue per se. It is, however, indicative of the quality of the man as a human being and when that person is in a position of responsibility in the form of influencing impressionable kids then I think it merits discussion. For some apparently no discussion can be brooked, but I for one am not in the least bit surprised that he is from the same vintage that thinks "spit roasting" pissed up young girls they've invited to their Xmas party is all good seasonal fun. Arguably these 18 and 19 year olds are consenting adults. I still say though that footballers need to demonstrate a certain standard of behaviour and this view point is echoed by sponsors who withdraw their money when sportsmen go too far - ask Tiger Woods.

I don't disagree with your assessment of Stretford being scummy; I just think you prefer discussing them to discussing City.

Apols. Wasnt aware of the arbitrary time line employed to come up with your statistic, which incidentally even if I had been would have made the stat 80 percent.
Alioune DVToure wrote: 80% then. You've got four times more to say about the team you hate than the team you love. Incidentally, the thread before that was on Opta stats. No mention of City there either. I can go back further if you're challenging me to prove my point. EDIT: The one before that - as far as I can tell - was titled 'BBC Rags'. Six out of seven is 86%. Getting close.
