Good luck to Uwe. However, the one problem with him being a success there is that bloody Whelan will be all over the press and tv talking about his bloody broken leg, the Fa Cup final and any other subject matter he cares to witter on about.

He's an odious shite but a shrewd businessman - I will have a hard time disliking their club if they get Uwe.
I'm delighted to see him getting recognition for his efforts with Brentford though. Who knows, he could end up back here after all if the success continues.

When he was interviewed on local radio a couple of weeks ago, I'm sure they're was still a family connection in Manchester, so could be a very good move for him. Much as rent-a-quote is a knob, he's a very supportive chairman for a manager. Many others would have panicked and sacked Martinez in previous seasons rather than accept he was doing the best he could with an average squad.

There was mention last week of the Goat taking over at Oldham as well.

Not heard that goat rumour , but I do know that the Oldham manager is doing reasonably well (my mates son plays for them) so very unlikely . Paul scholes helped out at training there recently.

Having read the book (a cracking read incidentally), I think it would be a shame if he left Brentford in some respects, as it's clearly something he is enjoying and the club have just had approval for a new stadium suggesting there is a long term plan in place.

I think if he does go to Wigan based on where they are it would clearly be seen as a step up, but I doubt it will be an easy decision for him.

The key factor may be his family who I seem to think are still based in the north west.

I'm not sure Owen Coyle would consider him a very supportive chairman after being booted out after only 6 months?

Would love Uwe to be City manager one day too but don't see it happening. I think Martinez will be next city manager after Pelligrini leaves, whenever that should happen. Wasn't he already approached about being his number 2? Makes a lot of sense our Spanish management would look at Martinez as the natural successor to Pelligrini.

6 months is a long time to gauge a manager that takes over a premier league side in div 1.

Got a colleague who's a Liverpool fan but from Wigan and he went to the Wigan European game last week with some friends who have season tickets. He said Wigan were awful and his mates said it's been like that all season and it seemed that most of the fans wanted him out. If you make the wrong choice, there's no point being supportive.

As for ex-Everton managers for a title chasing team, I'm not sure that's a good idea, although at least Martinez has won something.
