Never claimed to know anything. Just wondered whether it's part of their thinking re Pellegrini.

You can absoulutely put your fucking house on City trying to sign Messi & it being more likely to happen if Pep was here.

Doesn't need Sherlock Holmes to figure that out.

Sadly by the time we would have sign edMessi i think he'd be well on his way down. As an avid Messi fan (seriously, its sadly a bit of a weakness - i've watched pretty much every Barca game for the past 4/5 years cos theyre always always on tele and he's great to watch) his performances seem to be starting to drop off. He's nowhere near as sharp these days. He spends far too much time strolling about whereas he used to totally and utterly dominate games on his own. He's a fucking genius, but i've honestly got a feeling that he's lost a bit of that fiery hunger.

I agree but Barca have changed style slightly & Neymar is there.

If he doesn't get it back, he may decide he needs to move & that would therefore happen very soon.

We will be all over it like Wayne Rooney on a drunk granny.

This wasn't aimed at you mate, I only mentioned it because I'd seen it written a few times by different people and wondered if it had been laid down anywhere or just theory.

A lot of the defenders of our new manager seem to be happy based on the style of football we play. As a matter of interest what would posters most like?

Win the league with less attractive football or come second playing the way we play now? Option 1 every time for me.

The style at home is very pleasing on the eye whereas the style away is not.

The thing is, we're not in this game now just to play attractive football or just to get points, they have to go hand-in-hand.

Points for me, at least until we get to 40 ;-)

That's a good question really. As most long time posters know I get most enjoyment out of good results. Obviously I enjoy watching good football as well but I would always take dull 1-0 win over 5-5 draw.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Well, first and foremost it is entertainment, so the more attractive the football, generally people will be more entertained.

If I only cared about result I'd check the classifides.

Exactly. What's the point in watching if you don't care about the performance? Save yourself the hassle. Entertainment comes first every time.

I have seen us promoted several times and enjoyed Keegan's entertainers the most. But equally would prefer a dull promotion/title to missing out.

No point in playing brilliant football and losing. Winning is the main thing for me. Not winning the title this season will be a major disappointment.

I don't think I could ever think of football as entertainment, it's still sport with allegiances for me.

I wonder if Blues had thought it entertainment before the money came in?

This is not a dig mate, just my thoughts.

That's what I'm saying (without having a dig either)!
I mean take Royle years for example. Anyone who says they enjoyed the football has to be talking bollocks. Yet that's exactly what was needed.

Sorry again, I should have stated that I meant WATCHING football was about entertainment.

And I don't understand the rest of your post?

I think we're just different in our perceptions.

This is typical Pellegrini, according to Transfermarkt:

49,66 % Wins
24,27 % Draw
26,07 % Losses

I seriously would like to see stats showing his away and home records at Villareal, Real Madrid and Malaga respectively. In the league. I started doing it manually by going through season after season but it takes a lot of time. Does anyone know where the stats could be found?

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."
