This has really riled me as its totally fucking amateur. It's cost us potentially a million or so in prize money, coefficient points and an easier draw.

Pellers and everybody in and around City knew what was needed, what was possible and what was wishful. We are not amateurs.
We got out of the group, we beat the reigning european champions away, Pellers broke his Guardiola duck and we saved Kun for arsenal. win.win.win.win. Stop putting the negative twist on everything.

I'm not - he categorically said we needed two more goals. That's not putting a negative twist on it. It's just a fact...he's fucked up.

Great play, great performance, but fucking schoolboy stuff. I'm allowed to be irked by it as its a lack of preparation.

You're choosing to pick up on a barbed and negative comment from a wanker pundit rather than trust in our manager - all opinions valid and your choice but it would probably be better received on another forum . . like rag cafe for instance. .

Are you absolutely fucking stupid? I'm literally choosing to literally listen to Pellegrini's exact words and take them exactly as he said them. When i first heard it before it even went back to the studio i thought 'hey?!' as he said we needed two more goals. I've since watched it several times and there is literally no doubt that he didn't know.... this is not Sky twisting it. This is not me giving a shit about what Carragher or Hoddle says. This is me listening to Pellegrini, taking in his words and then sitting there thinking 'he's just said we needed two more goals to go through'

It can't be any clearer. It's his words! Nowt's being twisted!

Please, somebody start a 'Hoddle' thread, just to see what people think of his comments.

Sourness is normally fair and even when it comes to talking about us, but even he heard what pellers said, like most of the rest of us.

The question is, since English is NOT his first language, was did he mean two more goals in the game, or two more goals than Bayern in total? This can be spun many ways, point is though, it doesn't matter any more and in the scheme of the CL, it really shouldn't matter. If we are to be a top team, it is time to earn it now.

That doesn't quite add up though does it cos the Aguero comment about being tempted to put him on if we scored a fourth implies he thinks we needed two more.

I like Souness as he says it as it is. The others though, especially Hoddle, make it clear that they are either anti-City and want to have a pop or they are choreographed.

Correct. Even if the rags had drawn they'd have creamed themselves calling it a moral win. This result cannot be understated. This was the performance of the season in Europe for me

It was a shit start, but this game is one to remember. No Yaya. No Aguero. No Kompany. No Nasri. Limited appearance by Negredo and Silva just off of injury. AND Garcia played all 90, Dzeko 80 plus and were their normal uselessness.

CTID! Brilliant day. Bring on Arsenal!

Well what a silly person you are ! Both Garcia and Edin had very good games tonight.

Only thing that's being twisted here is your melon - listen to your negative whinging tomorrow when you've sobered up and got your priorities back in line and you'll realise that you seized on anything you could to try to belittle our achievement and tried your silly best to piss all over what should by rights be a wonderful and celebrated moment in our history. Our manager and players deserve better than your mard drivel. All I said was that your line would be better appreciated on rag cafe and I hold by that opinion - if you think we should put up with a sad ass trying to pick away at the seams of a great victory then you've got it wrong and should seek a new audience.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

I would not say very good, Garcia was shocking on the second goal, we scored 3 goals tonight none of which was from our lone striker Dzeko, nor did he have direct impact on them. That said, I think you missed the point: they are not who I would pick in our starting 11.

Didn't he head the ball back across the goal for Silvas goal?

I thought he performed the lone striker role quite well.

That was MIlner.
Edin was ok and worked a bit harder than usual.I think better also in the 2nd half than the first as my guess is Pellegrini got into his ear

I'm not drunk. I'm totally sober and ill stand by these views forever.

Three questions - was the win good? Yes. Is it acceptable that the management didn't know the requirements to top the group? No. Could the win have been more significant meaning we earned more money, more coefficient points and an easier draw if we knew what we had to do and went for it? Yes..... therein lies the problem. We didn't cos we weren't organised.

I'm putting the performance and the lack of knowledge as two different things. The victory. The fuck up. One was great, the other was totally fucking shite.

I'm not moaning at the players you idiot or im not trying to pick at the victory. The players played well. I'm moaning about the basic lack of understanding of the rules of the competition - that's separate from the performance. It's literally fundamental stuff. It's not negative whinging - is about being professional and organised and if you can't see that then you'll never understand. The 3-2 win tonight was nothing more than a pride booster, when it could have been an actual game changer in terms of how this thing unfolds.

And seriously - belittle our achievement? Jumped on anything i could? Oh ffs, get a grip man. Could you sound anymore paranoid. I think Pellegrini's great. I just think he's fucked up tonight and its irked me. I'm allowed to be irritated by stupid gross negligence. I'm a perfectionist, as is Pellegrini no doubt, so im sure he'll be pretty fucking pissed off with himself tonight and i wouldnt be surprised if there's questions amongst the staff about it too. Nowt will happen, and nowt should happen, cos its a mistake to learn from, but people are allowed to be pissed off by the kind of basic errors you'd expect a sunday league team to make.

EDIT - THIS....

"Milner, an outstanding performer on the night, said: “We didn’t know if 4-2 would be enough or if we would need 5-2. We thought it needed to be 5-2 to be honest. It’s not easy to score three goals here, so to score four would have been a tough task. It’s pleasing to score three goals at a place like this and we’re going to need to do that in the next round."

I mean come on...the players didn't know what they had to do to top the group....jesus fucking christ. Wouldn't be surprised if some players like Milner are a little gutted

Dzeko was excellent tonight.

Garcia was also excellent 2nd half after a tragic 1st. He looked like the player who played for Benfica. Unfortunately, it still wasn't the Premier League.

Nervous, disoganised, horribly shite start followed by great workrate bottle & not a little craft.

We worked harder tonight than we did in the home leg, especially Dzeko, & his grafting, plus having Silva as 2nd striker rather than Aguero, made our pressing of their shitty, hopeless, pathetic centre backs much more valid & showed them up for what they are.

They are both so lucky to be playing in such a team as Bayern where they rarely get exposed.

After a pathetic, gutless, start we manned up & defended, as a team 2nd half, better than we have done at any stage v anybody all season. Now everyone will be dropped & we will start again from scratch.

Silva & Fernandinho would walk into Bayern's team, whoever they have fit.

Our squad is better than theirs imo, but they have been together longer & usually work harder.

If we match them for workrate, we can be as good as them or better.

The one thing this game does point out is that when it matters we do usually deliver...we're pretty good in big games.

Apart from in the Champs Lg, especially v Bayern.

But this season we have started to put that right & tonight was a big step, to do it v Bayern, imo.

Don't give a fuck about the group situation. Bayern were on our case tonight & came out full tilt, as they did at our place. We fought back, as we also did to some extent at our place tbf, but it wnt unnoticed on that day because of what happened earlier.
