Pellers got the goal difference wrong?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I WANT to play Real, Barca etc. Well Barca actually.

We've made our statement now, & qualified, if we are actually going to win the fucking thing, we will have to be good enough to beat top teams, if not, I'd rather do one til next year & concentrate on the Prem.

I want Barca.

A lot of people have said this but why would it have mattered if they equalised? It would have changed nothing whereas one more goal for us would have changed a lot.

Mate, before the pundits started getting terribly excited about Pelle's booboo, they all agreed that this result finally announced us on the european stage. And it did.

3-3 would not have done that. It is long known that winning big matches breeds confidence and experience that money can't buy.

Beating the rags in the FA cup semi was the first big statement of the modern era. That was followed by winning the league. But we had proved nothing in Europe... until now. Our second string beating the european champions... on their turf... after being two down... their record in that ground... it goes on and on...

We have announced ourselves on the last stage. Major mission accomplished. Winning the competition will be the final step up. And finally, I wouldn't rule that anymore.

Because of last night.

Sure, the extra goal would have been icing on the cake. But the cake was delicious without the icing. Shockwaves being sent around Europe. "Be careful, City are dangerous now".

Let the muppets point to poor maths or poor English or poor whatever.

We'll worry about turning into a major footballing powerhouse.

Great post. As much as its disappointing that the club didn't seem to know what was required, I really have to say that I don't give a rats arse.

You have to play them all to win it, and regardless of last nights result, I rate we have an even chance against any team in Europe over two legs - in fact the team I fear most are probably PSG. So if we draw a big team in the next round, the likely outcome is there will be 'weaker' teams left in the competition in the later stages.

We will soon know though, don't they draw two rounds of fixtures at a time in the champs league?

Most likely it'll be one of Madrid, Barca, Atleti & PSG, innit? Barca would be great, because currently, they may well be the weakest of that lot, but still have the biggest name.

Or Dortmund/Napoli, if Arsenal balls it up.

I didn't see the interview so I can't really comment on that.

However it seems to me that the competition is already skewed by UEFA's peculiar seeding system and in order to win the trophy we'll have to play tougher teams at some point anyway whether it be the last 16, 8, 4 or 2. i.e. The winner takes it all as Abba and Queen would say.

Let's celebrate the fact that we have gone toe to toe with the Champions and come out with honours even.

Yes choice now in the draw will be that we would be one of the good teams in pot 2 (unseeded teams) but had we qualified as seeded, it'd have been Bayern in that unseeded pot ...

Even now if you ask anyone who'd they rather draw against in last 16, City or Bayern and the answer 10/10 times will still be us!

FFS fellas. No matter how well we play and what great results we might get, there is a large majority of so called fans who would rather rant and rave about this. We are through to the last 16, we beat a great team after giving them a 2 goal start. Celebrate not pontificate.

I think the win alone will now make the whole squad believe in themselves and what collectively they can achieve.

Put this bollocks to bed and leave pellers alone.

Rant over, bring on the Arse

Even the bitter rags at work haven't mentioned this (probably too dumb to understand the rules anyway). They have mentioned dead rubber, arsenal did same last year, will get knocked out next round etc, but not this. Liverpool fan has bigged the win up, perhaps to tease the rags :-)

"Pellers" , boy do i hate that nickname, we are not an upper middle class cricket team ! " he got it wrong ". Really ? Well he wasn't the only one , was he ?

How many really new about a fourth goal ? I didn't and i don't care either. Who ever we meet in the next round is going to be tough .

Interesting that as the Independent seemed to think that 3-2 was enough for us to win the group.

One more thing Pellegrini brought Rodwell on instead of Aguero to shore our midfield to maintain our lead with 3mins plus injury time left.Who really thinks he did the wrong thing after replacing Silva with Negredo imo he said we are going to keep what we have which was a siesmatic win in the grand scheme of things.Roll on the draw and what will be will be.
