So, as long as we are in the CL, I want to see us up against the very best. I'd love seeing us go up against Messi for example. If we got Atletico or PSG in this round I'm not sure I'd bother watching the game (which in my defense, does get played about 4am my time). I'm not trying to make an argument to convince anyone of anything, and I don't have any problem with anyone who values the CL far more highly than I do. Its just how I feel.

I'll be up with the missus any time, any day, any game. Last 16 of the cl and you might give it a miss? Really?

PL over the CL all day long. But, CL is the 2nd best thing available, FA Cup 3rd. All 3 are highly worthy as is the Coca Capital League Cup thing.

Silverware is silverware!

But not watching it? I don't get that.

Dunno, it depends on the draw. I just genuinely can't get excited about the CL so I don't usually watch the games, even if it is my beloved City. I watched all the CL games the first time we qualified, this season I think I've only seen the first half of the home bayern game. I don't think I watched any of the other games.

I get up for midweek prem games though, so I saw the West Brom game for example.

I know I'm in the minority with the way I think here, I just don't like the CL or what it represents (money, basically). I'd get up at 4am to watch us against West Brom in a midweek game but didn't bother getting up when we played Bayern Munich away in the CL. I'm just not at all emotionally invested in the CL whereas I am completely invested in the PL (and FA cup). Its hard for me to explain why because I don't really know why myself.

I agree, I'd be happy winning the CL too, but its less important than the FA cup for me. I'm not trying to convince anyone thats the way it 'should' be, its just how I am. I feel like the CL has probably been a net negative to the sport as a whole by skewing the prize money pool so much, and so I just can't take much pleasure in seeing us be successful in it. Its hard to really want to win something that, if it was up to me, I'd probably scrap entirely and replace with something entirely different.

When I'm in the UK I watch every game for sure, but I'm not often keen to get up at 4am for a result I don't really care about.

Admittedly on further thought, beyond the last 16 stage is probably important enough for me to get up and watch it.

Maybe the tournament will grow on me the more we play in it.

No Spanish team wants City in the Champions League
13 Dec 2013 08:26

City could draw any one of three Spanish sides in the Champions League, but no fans of the teams want to draw the Blues according to a Marca poll.

They're three of the most formidable teams in Europe.

Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona were imperious as they topped their Champions League groups, with only the Catalan side losing any games.

But nobody wants to draw City in the next round, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Madrid-based paper held a poll online asking fans who they least wanted to face in the last-16 and the Blues were the team most supporters wanted to avoid.

Manuel Pellegrini, Jesus Navas, Martin Demichelis and Alvaro Negredo have only left La Liga this season, but it seems fans in Spain have no wish to see them in action again any time soon.

City's next Premier League opponents, Arsenal, were chosen as the team readers wanted to avoid next.

Someone far more important at the club disagrees with you on the importance of the CL. As long as he is here winning the CL will be a top priority for us.

I didn't used to have any regard for the CL and didn't even watch it. Nowadays I think it's great.

Cant think why :-)

Really? I don't agree. Atletico are no better than us. Real? Challenge accepted.

I find the group games a bit of a chore I must admit. The timing is prohibitive, in that games are on in the morning Oz time.

But I'll make more of an effort now we're at the pointy end.

As they should be...fucking fortress. What a week!

I hope we get PSG and then whomever is topping La Liga so that we can beat every team topping their league this season. #TopoftheirLeagueQuadruple. Halfway there.
