Manchester City's win takes them up from fourth to second position, although that could change with third-placed Chelsea at home to Crystal Palace later on.

Despite being thrashed, humiliated and comprehensively beaten, Arsenal remain three points clear at the top of the table.

If it comes down to goal difference at the end of the campaign, as Manchester City's title victory did two seasons ago, then the other sides are going to have to record some huge wins to match Manuel Pellegrini's men.

After today's landslide, Manchester City's goal difference at home is +30. Away from home it is -1.

If they get it right on the road, and maybe beating Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena might be the kick-start they need, the rest of the Premier League are in a world of trouble.

It doesn't seem to matter what the game situation is at home we just keep attacking and attacking with little thought to keeping it tight at the back.If the opposition also commit for goals then you will get games like todays.Arsenal did have chances and there were one or two close decisions going our way.

Were we poor at the back or was it more that Arsenal did throw a lot of players forward and really went for goals? Maybe a bit of both but with Arsenal thinking to attack City were ripping them apart and yes could have scored more and I think with Aguero on for longer we might well have.

Made up for Fernandinho. He has been playing so well and this is icing on the cake.He is a class act.Now for some away games.

And I wouldn't have it any other way, I love having a manager who basically wants to prioritise attacking over everything else. To be fair we have the squad and the talent to do it, so it seems a reasonable tactic.

Once we scored the 4th the game was over I think. The Arsenal players did look exhausted for the last 25 minutes or so in fairness, but I'm suprised Wenger didn't try and make them even slightly more solid of that period. There were massive huge gaps in midfield and at the back for them, and they were lucky we didn't score again until Fernandinho managed towards the end. 4-2 could have become another 8-2 for them but they didn't seem to care.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said: "To score six goals against Arsenal, the best defence and best team, is good, but to concede three goals is too much and that is something that we need to improve.

"We will always try to win the title. We have not had great results away from home but we are finding a style of play and we will try to continue a style of play. At the end of the year we will see who is the best team."

On striker Sergio Aguero, who came off injured in the second half: "Sergio will see the doctor, it appears a problem with his calf but I don't know how many weeks."

My old man is pretty pleased with himself after the game.Along with seeing a cracking game of football he won a signed City shirt at the game today.Luckily all he had to do was name more Christmas songs in 30 seconds than Natalie Pike.

I could give Natalie Pike a run for her money for 30 seconds.

Then it would be over and she'd leave disappointed.

I wonder what the Gooner fans will be saying on their boards? I bet it has nothing to do with Natalie Pike ;-)

But would you care?
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Just arrived home from the game – Northern Rail tried but failed to spoil the day by cancelling my train. Brilliant match, must have been one of the best PL games ever, could have been closer as Arsenal had their chances, but equally could have been a much wider margin too. Credit to both teams for making such a wonderful game despite losing two key players to injury during the game. I thought Fernandhino, Silva and Nasri were brilliant (some have criticised Samir but I saw a lot of great, fast moves between him and Silva). Yaya and Negredo contributed without being at their best. If we get all of the front six firing on the same day then we could score double figures.

Just been checking the odds for the league and was very surprised:

City - 6/5
Chelsea - 7/2
Arsenal - 7/2
Dippers - 9/1
Everton - 28/1
Rags - 28/1
