Premier league teams have mostly put emphasis on attack rather than defence, with a few exceptions now and again. Those that do concentrate on defence are often the poorer teams and combine it with basic route one style play. Obviously a generalisation, but seems to have been that way for a few years now.

Maybe it's a trend. It could be said that many of the top European teams have dodgy defences.
The great Barcelona team of a few years back had many defensive lapses.

So what you are basically saying is that defending is passe?
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Maybe there just inst that many great defenders around at the moment. Bayern are supposed to be the best side around now but Just look at the two centre backs they have, hardly the best ever.
