well ... zabba hasn't really had a rest has he, as micah hasn't been fit all season ... and surprise! Injured again. Zabba has been overworked, no doubt ... non of us know if it's a case of over training, though you're all very eager to jump on pelligrini for that. Easy one, I suppose, as it's totally unverifiable to us.

An argument can be made for whether or not zabba should have been picked, but I think we're out to win these domestic cups, and being in the quarterfinal, I can understand the reasoning behind fielding him. Also giving milner a run at left wing, where he looked good. Boyata handled his appearance well, which is good because we might be seeing him there for the next couple of weeks.

to add, Micah's fitness is not down to training. He's had these injury issues over 3 different managers now, all with different methods. Aguero is no stranger to a muscle pull, and I don't think Rodwell's issues can be put on anyone, just natural.

Who mentioned Pellers? That's not his job mate, we have a full section that relays info to him which must've said that he was fine.

Micah has been out which has left us with one recognised LB, and a bloody decent one at that. Maybe, and only a suggestion, we should've been looking at somebody else to stand-in?

I had no problem with Zab's playing tonight, check what I've written, and apportion no blame to Pellers so stop getting so fluffy.

i'll fluff as much as I like, thank you. Doomie's made a career of it, why can't I?

Not really. I make it 24 different players who have turned out for the first team so far this season.

There'll be more to come. No we got good we play in Carling Cup matches instead of being knocked out at Brighton or somewhere, we play in Europe including some God-forsaken pitches and some very competetive games. Everyone in the league is trying twice as hard against us and we dont normally go out of the FA cup in round 3 anymore. Plus I think they get trained harder now.

Penalty of success.

Look a second at the players that got injured this season.

Vinnie - he got injured twice because we overused him, Demichelis was out at that time, we didn`t have a right footcenter back.
Nasti - Pellers overused him instead of giving Lesco a chance
Zaba - overused because Micah is a constant sicknote
Sergio - he doesn`t have a replacement, Jovetic is a constant sicknote.

My point is this, we need players that can step up when we need them. My example is Nasri. How many of you missed Dave when he was out? Nasri was briliant, he was all over the place.

When Navas played so and so, Milner step up. When Clichy was wank, Kolarov was better. When Edin had that shite form, Negre stepped up and so on.

This things happen, it is important that our whole squad is almost equal so we can change without any problems.

PP. It's OK saying have 2 equal players for each position but it'd never work. Firstly, it would cost a fortune to get those players in and secondly, who would want to sit on the bench?

And in the RB case, we are talking about the 3rd player. Do we now go one more and say that we need 3 equal players for each position?

There was no problem with playing Zab's, or Aguero et al in other games, as he was our only recognised RB. The discussion always occurs after the fact due to uncertainties moving forward, exaggerated by Micah's injury. If Micah was OK then there wouldn't be too much discussion and in truth, he'd have probably played that game instead leaving a moot debate.

One thing can be said and this is that Pellers is at least giving these competitions a bit of respect and wanted to get us through to the semi's without taken a shit load of risk. Nobody could've predicted Zab's injury and who is to say that this isn't a blessing in disguise because this could've happened at the start of the Fulham game leaving us with a wide-eyed DB to come on instead of now having chance to plan?

I blame the WAGS, not giving their other halfs the rub-downs that they deserve.

This has to be down to more than just bad luck!

the Mrs used to be a Ballerina, she goes mad at the tv because footballers never warm up or stretch properly, she often makes a good (but annoying) point... Ryan Giggs had a lot of trouble with injuries about 15/20 years ago, he took up Yoga and uses it to warm up his entire body steadily and thoroughly, he has done extremely well at keeping fit (Consireding his age), she also pointed out that 3 jogs up a sideline, skipping like a girl or swaying from side to side with arms held out at chest height is just a waste of valuable energy and no real benefit to prevent injury.

Thinking back to all the training I have seen the players are always put through a series of stretches and other warm up stuff before getting into anything serious. You see some of the same before games where mostly Sam Erith is in charge of making them go through regular routines. When you see them doing this pre match do you think all the players are taking it as seriously as maybe they should?

Just wondering as I could name a few who to me don't seem to be doing things maybe as rigorously as they could!

Totally agree, the Mrs explained how few ballerina's pull or damage muscles in comparison to footballers and how much longer and how much more rigorously their muscles are used for. I mocked her at first for making the comparison but after seeing her in action I understand a lot more now that footballers have it reletively easy and have no excuse for so many, or such silly injuries.

You just want to show off that you have a very fit and flexible missus!

She has a point, of course, but the difference between ballet and football is that the movements in football aren't rehearsed or choreographed. Sudden changes of direction combined with pushes and tackles increase the risk of injuries a lot, also when it comes to muscle damage.

in Rodwell's case, it may have something to do with the fact that he's still not done growing. almost positive i read an interview in the last few months where he said he grew 2 inches in the last year, which may have something to do with the muscle issues.

Yeah but ballerinas don't run 12 km during a 90 min. performance do they ? Sprints jogging, stop and go .ballet dancers have it easy. Sure they move around a stage but the stage isn't 100 m by 70m .

Romario used to have sex 90 minutes before every game because he thought it relaxed him and made him play better. And he had a pretty good career... get on it WAGs
