Exactly. I complained when Mancini turned us from an entertaining team to a more defensive set-up. I also complained when Pellers did the exact opposite but as long as it works then I'll live with it and enjot it how it comes.

At the moment we are flying and if it works, why change it. It didn't work early on but our latest form is putting wins on the board. What more can you ask?

The away form is definitely improving but there is no way anyone can deny we have issues defensively. In our previous 5 away games we have conceded 8 goals - considering the opposition we played in some of those matches, there is definite room for improvement.

Some poor midfielders and strikers have made our defenders look silly this season, and we look vulnerable at the back in most games.

Even with our strong form, Liverpool are still above us, and Arsenal or Chelsea can go back above us today. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the games very much and we're scoring plenty, but to win the league, we have to improve defensively, so it's definitely a debate worth having.

Most of the goals we are conceding, are just pure shit. It's not because of our players attacking, it's because of our players not defending properly. Arsenal didn't score on the break, they scored because we let Walcott drift unmarked into our penalty area & allowed the pass to go through to him. Yaya got mugged in his own half for another, & a centre half got between our defenders for a free header from an unopposed cross for the other.

The goal Fulham scored on the break, only happened because Demichelis dived in & missed a challenge at halfway, then for some reason ran towards the wing in a completely hopeless, headless, charge rather than just running straight back to cover next to Vinny, as they are taught to.

The goal at Sunderland, Demichelis charged at Milner rather than covering behind him, & they both allowed Phil fucking Bardsley to beat them; two players, then the keeper. He has never done that in his life. We had two players v one oppo fullback, & lost.

Cardiff; all the players were back for both goals. Just defended like shit; Zabba Garcia & Lescott all missing a near post cross. Zabba allowing their striker to score unmarked.

Villa, VK Nastasic & Hart vs ONE bloke from a hoof downfield. Lost. Chelsea, Nastasic plus Hart fuckup; lost. Bayern, mistake by Hart, mistake by Clichy, mistake (away) by Kolarov, also scored from a corner kick.

None of these goals are down to tactics, that is an excuse. they are down to totally disorganised, shit defending, individually & as a team.

We will inevitably get caught out on occasions because of our tactics, but that isn't what is happening most of the time.

Defend properly, rather than like shit, & most of these goals will stop happening.

Actually I thought De Michelis looked pretty good against Fulham sadly apart from contributing to one of the Fulham goals. The same can be said for Vinny. Good for long spells and then a bad mistake.

He does Kamikaze stuff, some of which works very well. But when he misses one (which he does every game) it almost always leads to a goalscoring opportunity because he is so hopelessly out of position.

Defenders make mistakes we remember , Edin is a man who turns over the ball for fun in areas of the pitch with no real pressure on him just a crap touch or pass, I thought we were fine for long periods on Saturday, we just have that devil in us to drop down a level when it is easy, Walcots second was a classic example Zabba and Vinny made the pass from Ramsay look a great dink when both were trying to second guess him, both out of position. Top finish but all day to pick his option.

Some of the defending we've seen this season has been awful, but I don't really think some of them can do any better. Demichelis' 'all or nothing' style of defending leaves him out of position on so many occasions, I'm not sure he can change that at this stage of his career. Nastasic has almost zero defensive ability and I would prefer we never see him starting for us ever again. Garcia is just a complete liability.

Based on the options available, Lescott is the best partner for Kompany, as those 2 have proven in the past that they operate well as a pair and complement each other's style of play. We still need to bring in another top class centre back if possible, but as long as we persist with Demichelis or give Nastasic a run in the team, we will always have these issues. So whilst there are individual fuck-ups, Pellegrini must take some of the blame too for selecting players with these attributes (or lack of) in their game.
