Everyone knows he's over rated?

So all those goals and records broken didn't happen no?

He's the greatest player I've ever seen.

Plus dont forget with amortisation it is €20M per year - peanuts.

Not forgetting that he alone would probably quadruple our shirt sales, and attract a lot more Lucrative sponsorship deals

That implies you think Kinkladze would have scored 100 goals in a calendar year if he played for Barca...which is obviously utter tosh.

Messi to City

Can it happen? Yes, he is a player who can be bought and sold the same as any other.

Will it happen? That depends on a number of variables.
First and foremost Barca have to want to sell him. I think this would have to be for mainly monetary reasons as opposed from a playing perspective.
Barcas debts are well documented and with the investigations which are ongoing in Spanish football not looking favourable, they might just want to cash in.
On a playing side they may want to build the next side round Neymar meaning Messi isn't the unsaleable asset he once was.
Off the field he's rumoured to have fell out with the top brass there. His mentor Pep has gone and you never know, he might just want a change of scenery.

Would we want him? Take him like a shot. Arguably the worlds best player signing for my club? Have dreamed of that forever. Yes he'd cost over £100m and £300k a week in wages but that is likely to be largely recouped by increased revenues. Also imagine the rest of the league crying in their beer at the prospect of facing Messi, Aguero, Silva et all.

Premier League will be poorer for that ... I mean we say La Liga is just a two team league ... then our league will be just a one team league ...

So fuck yeah, bring him here!

Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero have urged Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to join them at Manchester City.

The Ivorian midfielder played with Messi at Barca for three years and both were part of the squad that won the Treble in 2009.

Toure feels that there is not enough room for both Messi and Brazil star Neymar to co-exist at Camp Nou, and he called on his former team-mate to move to City.

Speaking to beIN Sport, Toure said: "If Messi can leave Barca? To come to us, yes! I want to say yes! At Barcelona, there is always one star. One. Two is not possible.

"With the recent injury to Messi and the off-the-field problems that he is having at the moment, and with Neymar gradually getting promoted, it is complicated for [Messi], for sure."

Messi's Argentina team-mate Aguero echoed Toure's sentiments by telling the Manchester Evening News: "Should he come to City? Yes, he should come to City. Then we’ll definitely play together! City should buy him!"

However, Messi's father and agent Jorge moved to dismiss reports linking his son with a move away from Barcelona.

Messi snr told Ole: "Leo has grown up at Barca and he loves this club. There is no problem at all between Leo and the club's management. Over the last few months, the president Sandro Rosell has offered his full support and we appreciate these kind of gestures from Barcelona.

"In times like this (his injury), we need them more than ever. This support shows the esteem in which they hold Lionel.

"Their aims are the same as ours: to win as many titles as possible for the institution that we represent."

That does sound like a lot of goals. Maybe like 80 or 60 then?

Well no one said he is coming next week. Clearly this is about a combination of circumstances, not least his great disatisfaction with the current board and being constantly tapped up by Argentine team mates.

Clearly it is possible, once it wasn't.

Cheers

Of course the club hasn't said anything, so does that mean it IS or IS'NT happening? It means nothing, we have a (recent) history of not commenting on transfers or speculation (with one Real-related exception).
And of course this thread is speculation, nowhere in the thread have I seen anyone claiming to have inside information or be 'in the know'. As for your last sentence, we are up there with Bayern as a destination for him if he decides to leave IN MY OPINION.
