Swans of Wales

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Swans of Wales

Postby AG7 » Mon Dec 30, 2013 5:20 pm

Right, so in CuteMancs absence I'll do another one of these ...

Some reasonable voices among the Swans fans ... they are worried with Michu as well as Dyer missing up front, they think they won't trouble us much at that end and with Vorm missing in goal, they are worried at that end as well. However some are buoyed by the returning Rangel and Routledge from injuries and also their record over us at Liberty Stadium since their return to Premier League is something they are banking on to continue ... some also think we really don't have any Away woes and whatever they were are long gone and sorted ... not many hopeful for a win though and hoping they can at least nick a draw.

Here are some reasonable voices ...

Away Team Selection

Tremmel, Rangel, Williams, Chico, Davies, Britton, De Guzman, Pozuelo, Hernandez, Bony, Routledge.

My Favorite

At home then we have a chance but i wont put money on it.

And the Rest ...

City's away form isn't excellent, otherwise they'd be romping away with the title.

What do you all think the score will be this time do we stand a chance getting a pt, I would like to think we can but Im not to sure after yesterdays result vs Villa.

At home then we have a chance sure..... cardiff did it so why cant we.....

I'd like to think we could get a point at least. We need a reliable striker though, as we are sadly lacking up front. Too many injuries at the moment. Still might sneak a win, as this is the time of year when a few surprise results turn up.

It certainly is going to be tough be happy not for it to be a cricket score though a draw would be awesome but wouldnt be too gutted if we lost by 1 or 2.

We will get a point to of this, even fancy us pulling off a sneaky win.

If we play with confidence we can get a draw and I agree that a win isn't out of the question.

I would be delighted with a point. Neither Citeh or the Swans covered themselves with glory yesterday so it could be a surprise result. 0-0

My heart says swans win 1-0 but my head says man c 2-0. I'm not expecting a win but I would like to see us give them a real game!

We'll give them a game without doubt , the players will be down after throwing 3 points away yesterday and I'd like to think they'll want to make amends , we nobodies mugs and I exact a strong response .No side is unbeatable and theres been some strange results this season . I'd take a point now but why not 3

As long as we don't ship more than 3 goals I'll be happy, though we have been riding our luck for too long this season, think it will run out soon, hope it's not on Wednesday, as Citeh could easily put 6 past us!....................

The weather forecast for Wed is crap so that may well influence the outcome - I fancy us to nick a point in what I hope will be a close game

This is our problem this season scoring goals especially from our two main strikers, 4 from bony and 2 from michu is bottom of the class stats yet we are up the top with possession and up the top with passes....This is our problem and in one of the papers we have a C minus for the first half of the season and that is down from A minus the previous seasons...A huge turnaround is needed in the second half of the season if we are to avoid being in the relegation dog fight which is a lottery at the end of the season...

You've highlighted the problem perfectly Dai. 2 out of our top 3 attacking players are out injured, and the other one isn't 100% fit.

Well we are on a par with Chelsea's strikers with Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba scoring just six goals in the PL between them!

I would be happy with a point.

City are not the same team away from home and Crystal Palace showed that their attack isn't the same without Aguero. Silva will be suspended as well,, which is good as he is in hot form. If we don't retreat into our shell while maintaining a solid defensive line, and actually give Bony some ****ing crosses like we did against Stoke, there is no reason why we can't get a point or more from this game unless City turn up in title winning mode.

Do not confuse realism with pessimism, I'm not saying we are doomed, but look at the fixture list over the last two months on the Swans web site, not many green bars there, matter of fact they are mostly red and amber? and it's not about if we have managed to score in games, it's about winning our games, and that means we score at least 1 more goal than the opposition, which we are not, that has to change as we enter the new year, it doesn't take much for the dressing room to get mentally fatigued once you start losing your games on a regular basis, and it can be one hell of a job to break it! And now comes City, the Man City, the ****ing Man City. I will be happy if we just keep goal difference low. Forget draw even the way we are playing and they way they are p;laying.

Last seasons Europa campaign was a killer for Newcastle which nearly saw them relegated
Under the circumstances I would've thought considering the obvious blip in form that is inevitable with a small inexperienced at top level squad,Swansea are coping fairly well on the whole. But against City you are right we dont stand a chance.

Yes by losing to us on Wednesday won't determine their fate but us losing will be slightly more important .Although we'll be slight underdogs for this one we could gain at least point .We're playing well enough to get something.

As for the score I'll say 1-1. We've done well against them at our place and given that they've had a few defeats on the road I think we have a chance of getting something.

Strangely, I give them much more chance than they do. No Silva or Aguero will affect us, although hopefully we've got a full side apart from that.

We need a win but I've got a horrible feeling it'll be a draw

No Silva is a bitch. Hopefully Nasri will have a good game and we wont miss him. Zabba should be back which will give more impetus down the flank and support Navas. The Beast will also likely play. Yaya will return as well so we should have a side capable of winning.

Zabba Kompany Lescott Kolarov
Yaya Fernandinho Milner

It will be a tough game. Ill be delighted with an "unconvincing"(current media label) 1-0 win, just like the trogs managed in norfolk

This is a game that's there for the taking and I think that we'll take it by at least 2 clear goals as the lads won't want to let the good work in recent games go to waste. Taffs 1 and the Mighty Blues 3 says I.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

We'd both want a win for obviously different reasons. We would want to keep the momentum going and bury another away-form bone thrown at us that has become synonymous with each host of late, not to mention the media. Their attack sounds very much like a victory for us although I don't see it coming too easily as they are likely to form a battalion at the back against us. 0-2 City.

They don't sound too confident but this is another one of our lay to bed teams re:Result on previous meetings we must win this just to shut the gutter press up but our chances have'nt been helped by the picture of Nasri suddenly surfacing doing that stupid Quennelle gesture. He is really trying to downplay it on twitter so I only hope his mindset has not been affected.Who now say's the press don't have an agenda against us.

This one looks like a banana skin. They will play like an away side, looking to nick it with a counter attack.

Got a lot of time for Swansea, the way the club is run, the football they play and their classy manager. However, I think we'll have too much for them (especially with their missing strikers) so going for 1-3 to us.

I've a feeling this is going to be right too.

For the second half of the season we have a really tough set of away fixtures, which is worrying considering how many points we already dropped away from home against some awful teams (I'm still angry about Villa and Sunderland). We will win almost every home game, maybe even all of them, so our season is going to be defined by how we do in these kind of matches.

This is a good test.

I think 2-0 to us.

They are in terrible form and have only won once at home since the 19th of October.

If Norwich can go there and get a point, anything less than 3 points would be a monumental fuckup.

I'd second this, we should really not be looking at this as a potential banana skin......this should be threes points although we are clearly worried about 'typical' city turning up.

The swans will look to play football under Laudrup which opens the game up for us considerably. United's game at their place showed them up as very very poor defensively when pressed, making very elementary mistakes,

Agreed. Thonk you might be being a bit churlish with just 2 though. An earlyish goal and Swansea could well implode

I went for 2-0 because we don't have Aguero and Silva and we've shown we can win without them but we tend to grind teams down instead of cutting through them. Yaya and Nasri will have to step up.

Also if we play Dzeko/Negredo again I think I may scream.
