I hope early kick off is not a problem for players ... they were tweeting pictures of each other waiting for the new year's around 11pm, by when they should clearly have been put to bed by the club given this early kickoff today.

Last thing we want is us not showing (waking) up ...

PS. Nigels Tackle: You caps lock or shift key broken? At least use first letter caps for the headings. Annoys the hell out of me, OCD and all ...

Morning all, happy new year. Not happy that the players were out at 11pm but I'm also presuming they were in Swansea last night? No way Pellers would have allowed that with the early kick off. I'm sure the players wouldn't dare do something so stupid that would get them dropped.

Very worried about the appalling weather. Pouring rain and strong winds could make the match a bit of a lottery. I'm bricking it.

Why shouldn't they stay up? say until 1.00 am ? They get a good nights hotel sleep and a light breakfast. It's not like they are playing tonight and therefore need their Kindergarten nap.

If they had gone to bed early the fireworks would have disturbed their sleep, so no point.

That excuse works for me every time anyway.

Happy New Year all.

Interesting.

The Count said he had been splitting them up in order to make sure they were both fresh.

Attacking side. Dzeko and Negredo don't always play well together. Glad to see our attacking full backs playing. So important for us. Navas will help out on the right when we haven't got the ball, Nasri not so much on the other flank. He'll need to with Kolarov often effectively playing left midfield.

I think we'll play the same as always and am not worried about that team. However, I do think Swansea will cause us problems like we seen in the Southampton game. They like to control the possession and will pass the ball swiftly, getting it out wide and put pressure on our defence. They've still got a few players out though and their form hasn't been great this season. Some of that is down to their Europa League participation though and I think they're doing fairly well for such a small squad.

Envisaging a 4-1 away win but would take anything that gives us the points. Can easily see it being 3-2.

PS. Anybody mentioned Jovetic or Guidetti yet?

Jovetic still not fit enough for the subs bench. Surely he'll be there on Wednesday. We'll need him with both Dzeko and Negredo playing together today.

Not a single attacking player ?

Some mistake surely ? Why do we need two centre backs plus Garcia on the bench ? Ridiculous.

It just reflects Pellegrini's belief that attack is the best form of defence. He wants goals and he sees the best way is having 2 goalscorers on the field together. I hope he's right as we need to win this one especially with the really tough away games all lining up.

No, no, no, no, no.......Nasti and number 13 together again. I actually hope Lescott and Clichy find new clubs tomorrow morning to teach the lunatic gaffer a lesson.

I hope we get off to a good start but I imagine some focus from Laudrup on our left side.
