Well put. The only reason why he isn't a regular starter is the other parts of his game which have all been mentioned here..the work rate, first touch, his all round play.. But this boy is a goalscorer. And one thing I would want to point out is that when I speak to fans of other teams they never fail to mention Dzeko as one of the great options we have up front. Now if he was that shite surely nobody would give a f..?

In the end I reckon he will move with some being happy he left, some unhappy and some will feel indifferent. A huge divide in opinions, just like now. Can't see that changing whether he scores 5, 50 or 150 more goals for this club

As many have said already his stats add up, he doesn't set the world on fire and his first touch and work rate can be very frustrating but when I hear how much shit he gets from fans in the ground I do wonder about some fans expectations.

I'd actually like him to work less during a game. I hate it when he gets the ball out wide. I hate it when he gets the ball in our half. His poor touch means that we're likely to lose it.

However, he is brilliant at both ends with corners. I want him to just lead the line and continually be in a position to score. Don't drift wide so much. Go up and down the pitch with the play but if the turnover occurs LEAD THE LINE!! This is where he's most effective.

Play to his strengths. We have enough skill with the other players in the team. Leave it to them and thank them when they assist you to score.

That's fine but when we are all defending and we hit him with the out ball to release pressure, he needs to be good enough to hold it for a few seconds. Least he can do if he's not tracking, pressing or helping with possession.

This. Needs to be nastier and harder when trying to maintain possession.

If any of you were at dirty leeds when we won there under Joe Royle 2-1, think back to Paulo Wanchope's performance that day and you'll perhaps know what I am getting at.

I gave Dzeko some shit somewhere back in this thread, so I thought it was worth resurrecting it.

His all round performance in the last few games has been much better. He still misses the occasional sitter, but who doesn't. His pass for Negredo tonight was great and the pair of them have finally developed an understanding.

Goater is now the summariser on local radio and he mentioned a few weeks ago how he struggled initially and the fans didn't take to him. He realised that Dickov was popular because of his work rate so he tried to emulate him, even pairing up with him in training. He even said he'd speak to Dzeko about body language and effort and winning fans over. No idea whether that happened or not, but Dzeko has worked a lot harder since then.

Here's hoping Edin can keep this up, as work rate plus his goal scoring record and he'd be a top player.

I've just watched 5 minutes of highlights and already I can tell that they've had the chat. Goals scored earlier this season by Edin had his arms out with the "come on I've just scored, get off my back and love me" attitude. The reaction from last nights goals were "yes, I've just scored and cannot wait to score another." Very noticable.

I predict he will win everyone over, including Pellers, from here.

Dzeko was excellent last night. Not only did he score 2 goals, but he worked hard all night and was involved in much of our attacking play.

Agree with you re: his goal celebrations. He seemed to be enjoying himself out there last night.

I think he's done well for a few games now.

I mentioned it in the match thread, but the fact he made an attack on the near post was symptomatic of his new attitude, instead of dropping off the line or being outside the line of the far post which he does far too often.

Thought he played really well today again. Great effort, put himself about and made a great run and finish for his goal.
He was unlucky to be taken off today because imo he was having a better time of it than Negredo.

Also for a right footed player, how good is his left foot? I don't know of many players with a better 'weaker foot'.

Credit where credit is due, he has done well recently. He will get rested more when serg is back and that will be tough on him.

You might be right re the goat. Excellent goal and it was a quality reaction to the 2nd goal.It really matters to him.He got an injury from a "tackle" which is why he was brought off.

There have been some concerns that Dzeko and Negredo don't complement each other when they are paired together.

Could it be that, in the absence of Aguero, a bit of understanding is just starting to develop between the two of them, to ultimately confound any sceptics ??

Fair play to Dzeko. Performance and application wise that was one of his better games for us.

Seeing him jump off the bench when neggers scored was my fav part if the game too,
