I've just noticed the BBC headline that 'Swansea Stun United'. Really? They've already lost 4 home games this season and Swansea were the better side throughout. In fact looking at the lineups before the game I actually expected Swansea to win or at least draw.
Let's hope the comedy continues against Sunderland and Swansea. Then let's hope they can do us a favor and beat Chelsea and then lose every game after that, except Arsenal.

Can't believe we're in a position where it would be beneficial to us for them to beat Arsenal and Chelsea. Really shows how times have changed.

As i posted earlier, the game was at 1-1 when the ITV news came on yesterday. They actually showed the scum equaliser, but nothing about Swansea at all.
Maybe that's going to be the new media angle, scum as the brave, salt of the earth underdogs.

Yeah - I remember all those things as well - and a lot more!!! (gallantly holding Liverpool to a draw thinking it was enough was pure comedy).

But fuck it - I will wallow in every little bit of discomfort those bastards have - I will just perhaps wait a bit longer before letting go with both barrels - crowing too soon might backfire.

But I would just (a la KK) fucking love it if they drop out of the CL places - once that is confirmed I am going to hunt down every one of the arrogant scum fuckers that have given out shit for so long - they have a large debt to pay.

I do not just mean abuse that we CITY fans have had - but for me they are responsible for most things wrong with English football.

The Glazers can't afford to let Utd slip into mid table obscurity imo. They will either find money to spend, or sell up, if this continues.

For a huge number of Utd fans, it's all about winning & showing off. That's not to say they will all jump ship & become City fans if it stops, (some will though) but many will stop buying stuff & stop taking an interest, & the next generations, who would have become rags, will support someone else.

From a business sense, they have to get it right whilst they are still in a position to do so. The bigger we get, the more of their market we take, then there's also Real, Barca etc. But we have the backing like nobody else, to attack this market. We then also have the financial clout to spend money, thus pushing up wages & the price of top players (the very same trick rags, Arse, Liverpool etc used to create the 'top 4' in the first place). Utd can't allow themselves to be swimming after that boat as it sails away, they have to be in it.

They have huge sponsorship deals etc, timed to coincide with us being hamstrung spending wise in the short term by their mates at UEFA. They have to use this window of opportunity, as Arsenal & Chelsea have tried to do, whilst we are adjusting to the 'traditional' clubs' corrupt practices. It's no coincidence to me, that Arsenal have suddenly started spending money just as ffp starts to kick in.

It's 'the plan'. Utd have to do the same during this period, or lose their position in the world pecking order imo.

I recon they will spend big, or sell, possibly next season but if not, then soon after. If they don't, they have fucked it up, possibly for good.

This is what worries me,I have a feeling the cunts can borrow a lot more yet

But when does the use of the words 'shocked' and 'stunned' stop? West Brom, Everton, Newcastle, Spurs and now Swansea have all 'stunned' United. That's been the headline every time.

They haven't though. West Brom was a bit of a shock but Everton were playing better at the time, as were Newcastle, Spurs were level on points with them before their victory also. It sounds strange to write but was anyone on here surprised with Swansea's victory yesterday? They are a better footballing side than the Rags. The Rags normally get away with it due to Rooney or Van Persie being clinical but with those two out Swansea were always going to dominate possession. The only question was whether they would put away their chances. It wasn't a shock and as the game went on Swansea looked more and more likely to win.

When they only used to lose at home once or twice a season it would have been a shock. Now this is the 5th time.

Here's a question: If Utd were still owned by shareholders such as MacManus etc today, with Sheikh Mansour at City & Ferguson gone, would the Glazers step in & buy it ?

I think there is still an opportunity based on future media deals and that yes, if the opportunity arose to acquire at the right price in the next 12 months, there is a deal to be done for a good businessman who feels there is more to wring out of global media rights & commercial deals.

Problem is now, that they don't have saleable assets that they did back in 2005 or whenever it was they bought the club. Aside from Rooney, you would be hard pressed to find a player who would command a market value in excess of £10m - and their good financials are largely based on the fact that amortisation of purchases is only running at say £20m per year over the last 4 seasons.

With this in mind, knock off £30/40m from their revenues from the champs league, and factor in how much needs to be spent on the playing squad (100-150?) to make it competetive, and there doesn't look to be much of a profit, in fact a new owner would be looking at significant losses in the short term to put right the end of the ferguson era.

In the long term, there is still a profit to be made at united, but if FFP doesn't gain traction in the next 18 months, the glazers could be looking at having a club which needs massive investment, and still saddled with considerable debts......a fair spell on the outside looking in beckons at that point, so expect to see the ffp noise ramped up considerably in the months ahead

Absolutely, if FFP doesn't gain traction, without Ferguson, United with the debt they are carrying and the necessity to reach the champions league, don't have a particularly viable long term business (no operating profit to repay debts, and no assets like Tranny to sell off) and will have no choice but to push for a game changer.

My money is, and always has been long before he retired that the first one or two managers will be fucked off in short order as the owners wont be able to handle the fans backlash, and Ferguson will come back in the short term (preferably the short term being until he dies)

They need to strengthen, but also need to sign top quality.

Top quality is rarely available in January, and he's right to point that out. The exception to that rule is if you have uncovered a diamond and can get it for a song, or are willing to pay over the odds. They panicked with Fellaini, and I seriously think they may panic again if their top targets keep snubbing them.....which is going to continue so long as they are unsettled in the post baconface period.

Is it worth panic buying for a genuine world class midfielder for example, which would potentially shore them up in the short term, or do they just let themselves drift out of contention and try and sort it all out in the summer, by which time, without champions league they will struggle even more to attract decent players.

This month could really define the Manchester United we will see in the next couple of years.

The MUEN have gone big on this tonight and it is very interesting to say the very least . Until just over a year ago I lived right in the heart of Ordsall for over 10 years and was subjected to rag shite on a daily basis. Fuckin patronising cunts rags are and lying fuckers to boot too.
