Loved this one. Outstanding work statto!!!!

rag cafe: Can We Get 4th?

I think Arsenal, City and Chelsea are safe. That leaves Manchester United to contend with 3 other clubs for the remaining place - Liverpool, Everton and Spurs (5,4 and 3 points ahead of United respectively).

Liverpool are playing better than us, have easier fixtures and are 5 points ahead, so it would take a super optimist to say we have as good a chance. Let's be super-optimistic and say we have. That leaves Spurs and Everton - both ahead of us at this point. Let's be niggardly and give Spurs a 12% chance of qualification and Everton 8%. That leaves 80% to be evenly divided between Liverpool and United - 40% each. So:

United - 40%
Liverpool - 40%
Spurs - 12%
Everton - 8%
Total - 100%

Personally I don't think Everton's chances are 5 times worse than ours, and Spurs have just beaten us at home. Also, I think Liverpool, at this point, are entitled to fancy their chances more than United. So 33%, or 1 chance in 3, might be more realistic.

Do you know the sad truth of the matter is if IF! the scum get 4th and qualify for the CL via a play off against, say, the champions of Estonia they will still be in the pot of number one seeds whilst we will probably end up in the 2nd pot next season even if we win the bloody thing.

Haha. What are you? A middle aged man throwing out gay and childish 'insults' on an internet forum. Debating skills of an 11 year old.
No thankyou.
All the more ironic because I'm defending a CITY player.
You however would have a bigger claim to say 90% of Dzeko's goals were tap ins. Still not true though.

If I was the Glazers, I would give Moyes fuck all, take my medicine this season, then get a proper, experienced, world class manager for next season & borrow big money to back him.

If that failed, I would milk it dry, syphon off as much as possible then sell.

If Utd's profits aren't enough to fund their revival, watch ffp disappear as their new owner takes over.

They need a complete squad overhaul. They're okay upfront and Degea is pretty decent but they are lacking in every other area. They need two quality centre midfielders, at least one winger, a new left back and a centre back.

I can also see them just writing this season off, bringing in a propper manager and really spending some dough.
So I'm now determined to enjoy this season whilst they're poor before they inevitably bring a better manager in.

Well, if we win the bloody thing then we go top of Pot 1 ... and to even get to a qualifier they need the 4th spot and I'm sure Liverpool, Everton, Spurs and even Newcastle will have something to say about that ...

spurs will fall away from march onwards. It's in their dna. Newcastle imo have been over performing and will finish about 8th which is still a decent season for them. Battle for 4th will be between Everton, Liverpool

With 3 teams qualifying now automatically for the group stage, the 4th placed team was supposed to get a harder opponent for the playoff. In the last few years teams from England(mostly Arsenal) have had to play Fenerbache, Celtic, Udinese and Young Boys. I wouldn't expect any top 4 team in England to lose those games, but they certainly aren't some qualifier from the back end of nowhere no-one has ever heard of.

The good news is, even if they do make 4th, the oments are good, whereby the only time Moyes had a playoff game for the champions league, he lost it against Villareal.....managed by the count

Its a big if if they finish 4th at all. Depends mostly on Liverpool and if the rat gets injured/banned for 10 games.
