I dislike Garcia as much as anyone but Twobob's correct. Palace at home is about his level and it was important to give Yaya a rest. A David Pizarro type loan in January would be smart though.

He didn't look threatened, most of yesterday was them giving us the ball back so not like he was tested in any real way. However he has no clue going forward, kills the pace of every attack because his default position is back and sideways.

Yes, he didn't look bad, but he was probably the main culprit with our lack of attacking threat in a formation that requires all midfielders to be capable of forward movement.

Those are fair points Slim, but the whole midfield didn't look threatened, so why single the one guy out whose job it is to clean up after Merlin Ferdi and jesus lose the ball ?

It is clear in our midfield that David , Ferdi, yaya, jimbo , jesus and to an extent kola, gael, zabba are meant to get forward, be the creative guys. Like Barry before him, Garcia becomes an outlet when nothing is on, to rebuild , reorganise and take the pressure off. So that we can march forward again. It is rare that we see Garcia on the edge of the oppostions box, like Samir , Yaya or David ,trying to break through the line.

I get the impression he doesn't read the game as well as Gareth B. However, i am quite sure he will be a part of the Spain squad next year at the WM.

He gets a bad call on this website. He is a reliable squad player for us.

Garcia offers absolutely nothing going forward. Even less than de Jong did. Rodwell would be a better bet, as would Milner, in the same position/role but with some attacking threat as well. I can only think that JG is being put in the shop window because we are a far weaker team when he plays.

Well, I could point out Boyata, Milner and Dzeko yesterday as it was obvious that none of them are good enough to oust our strongest eleven and the distinct lack of sharpness and understanding should be self evident. But the point with Garcia is, and this isn't a slight on him, we don't play a defensive midfielder anymore. And yet there we are trotting out a defensive midfielder. Who's fault is this? Garcia's? Hardly, look at the name on the thread.

Top of the league, semi's of the League Cup, knockouts of the champs league after beating the european champs in their own gaff.

Still not convinced Pellegrini knows what his strongest eleven is, well he might think he knows, but each time we change someone delivers , James in München for example. Kola recently. What a great situation to be in eh?

Even now i would start James ahead of Jesus, but i must say Jesus has been very impressive lately , especially using his speed to travel back and win the ball. So even that would be a difficult call. Indeed i think he is now settled in (Jesus).

We still need to get three points on Wednesday and I am sure the team will step up for that match.

Then we have a good game at set of games ( Cup and league) so it's going to be a good time to have them all rotating and confident in their play.

A couple of ugly wins have oddly made me happier, you can't be rampant every game and finding a way to win more difficult games was what seemed beyond him a few weeks ago. Remaining satisfied, will only upgrade to "very" if he wins a trophy.

I'd be quite content to upgrade to "very" if we were to sign another forward in January (and finance this by selling some players), whomsoever he might be.

IMHO, we've got to keep the goal 'avalanche' flowing and with Aguero injured and Jovetic still a concern, we could suffer in this Department. If we can maintain our scoring record, results and, hopefully, trophies will follow.

Nothing has been won yet, but at this point this season must be viewed as more successful than last time out. Cup final place secured, CL qualification achieved. And serious title contenders.
But most important of all, great fun and the dizzying potential to get even better.

I just looked at this thread for the first time and popped the very satisfied button... I couldn't believe my eyes that 2/3rds of our voters are not very satisfied.

Is this really a cross section of the 30k who used to watch city ply their trade in the 3rd tier of English football?

Are these the same supporters who lived through the Ball, Pearce, Thaksin, Coppell, Swales and many other fiascos?

Is it the same voices who still sing we lost last week and we lost today.... Remembering when it was funny because it was the only way to survive another shifty week after being humbled by Wycombe?

Me....lI'm watching the best football of my life, I'm embarrassed by the riches we have on offer, I'm astonished by the tumbling records every week. Am I satisfied? No...... I'm fucking ecstatic, I'm ready to die a happyclappy blue who has had all his prayers answered, a blue who knows the future is so fucking rosy it's got ROSY written in mile high neon lights all over it.

Perhaps it's just the cross section of us blues who post on Internet forums who are 2/3rds fucked in the head or perhaps the same shit that happened with Leeds, Liverpool and most latterly the scum is what is happening to my beloved blues
