only thing I don't like about that tables is our GS/GA compared to the 3 above us. For all the goals we score now, we need to toughen up the defense to improve that. Barca's GD over that period is ridiculous.

Is an interesting academic exercise, no more no less. The ELO methodology seems sound and Mr Blue Sky and Tightrope still sound great nearly four decades on.

The goal that Hazard just scored for Chelsea: great goal, nice little bodyswerve, great finish.

Fucking terrible defending.

Where is the analysis of how bad Hull's defence was & how, really, he should never have been able to do what he did ? It's right on the edge of their penalty area. Give Garcia or Clichy a free shot from there & they will have a decent chance of scoring. Will they pick out Hull's defending on MOTD ? When Hughes & Co battered us 5-0 at the swamp, did anyone care that our defence & goalkeeper were fucking shocking ? Or when Vieira & Henry ran through Keegan's team ? Barely a mention.

Hazard should have been stopped.

But rightly, they talked about what a nice bit of play it was from Hazard, rather than picking out the negatives.

If they apply the same to City, as they should, we have actually scored fucking shedloads of absolutely excellent goals, possibly moreso than anyone, ever, at this stage.

We weren't opening up West Ham everywhere, they were covering most of the angles & keeping us at arms length, a lot of passes but not too much penetration, then when they are watching for sliderule passes & clever angles, Yaya hits a perfect 40 yard ball down the centre & Negredo hammers it in. The next goal, The Beast & Ed do a decent impression of Ian Wright & Mark Bright, & burst them straight through again.

The Sun (Custis?), described the first goal as "route one football".
It was a contender for goal of the season. The technique needed to do that is unbelievable.

Remember Shreks pass and RVP volley last year (Villa?). The media still wank over that goal now. Cant see the difference myself. An accurate 40 yard pass and a first time volley after the ball drops over the forwards shoulder. Fuckin mint goal by Neggers. Anyone in the press writing otherwise should call it a day and retire

Don't be so hard on him, he is probably 200 years old. I'd also be cranky if I were that old.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Will this Stoke/Liverpool game be talked of as 'controversial' & down to bad defending ?
