It's a good tried-and-tested formula for mid-table clubs to bring in La Liga experts. The clubs there are financially fucked and their best players are ripe for picking on the cheap. It's all about knowing who these players are, as was the case with Laudrup and Michu.

Closer to home, Negredo and Navas for a combined £30 million was excellent business on our part.

United had a similar strategy with Moyes and Fellaini.

He did well at Rayo who are a tiny club in the shadow of Real, Atleti and even Getafe. Much of his work helped get them to where they are now.

Besides which, they've only given him eighteen months. Let him sign a couple of top-class bargains and, if he turns out to be shite, ditch him without having to fork out loads of compo.

It actually makes sense to me. WBA aren't going down regardless.

Hardly! They didn't even bag Fellaini at the 'bargain' price of £23 million. They're monetary masochists.

:)
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."
