Moyes charged by the FA - seems he's had a change of heart

Postby Herb » Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:09 pm

It's an old piece of research but well worth a read because it puts into context the moyes claim that the rags have to play against the match officials - it was only a couple of seasons ago that moyes was calling for an investigation into refereeing bias in favour of the rags and now he thinks they're all against them - he must think it's personal the sad deluded rag.

Report section here with link to full report below: -

According to the Guardian’s research, which goes to back to the beginning of the 1997-98 season until 2004, “Riley refereed 23 United games in all competitions and gave 12 penalties for United in that time, but only three against them. And he has sent off five of United’s opponents.

At Old Trafford, Riley’s record is weighted even more heavily in favor of United: He gave 10 penalties in the 14 games he officiated to the home side, Manchester United.”

Riley’s bias was so suspected than when was awarded the Everton vs Man Utd FA Cup semi final to officiate in 2009, David Moyes actually called for an investigation on whether Riley was a United supporter.

If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Thing is he called it right but it wasn't that Riley (and others after him) were rag fans per-say but that they were part of the Taggert 'in-crowd'.

And following taggart's example he chooses to put public pressure on the match officials following the first penalty awarded against the rags in over 70 games. Seems he wants to perpetuate the pressure that brings the bias to their advantage.

'Titter'.

I remember those rumours; Riley was thought of as being a nightmare ref to get if you were playing v the rags, & usually confirmed it.

I don't believe for one second that Moyes is genuine in all these criticisms. Nobody would ever argue with that free kick being given for the first goal; nobody. The fact that he was pointing out that incident has convinced me my suspicions are right.

Imo, what we are seeing here is a long term plan, under advice from Ferguson. Basically he is trying to get himself into the same situation as before, when refs are terrified to give decisions against Utd & are intimidated into giving decisions in favour.

Ferguson has told him how important it is to relentlessly press the refs into submission imo. He is making it a little too obvious & may be advised to tone it down slightly, but imo it's vital to the plan & IF he stays in a job, he will do it until it works.

Ke**e always mentions Ferguson as a 'control freak', & I recon controlling the officials was absolutely key to his success. Without it, key games would have been lost & therefore titles etc.
