Man Of The Match v Newcastle

Postby Beefymcfc » Sun Jan 12, 2014 4:28 pm

Did anybody stand-out?

How the fuck they gave it to Tiote is beyond me but understandable if you want to perpetuate a certain story about unlucky the Toon were.

Pardew will have them eating out of his hand, the dirty cunt!

Kolarov for me. Excellent going forward and got the assist but also solid defensively making a goal saving tackle.

Negredo - he was still throwing himself into challenges in the 94th minute, he never gives up.
So this is how it feels to be City,
This is what it means to stand tall,
This is how it feels when our club has no debt at all.

There was one reason we kept a clean sheet, so in the absence of giving it to the ref, I voted for Hart.

Hart save us

Kolorov without a doubt, Pellegrini's style of play really suits him as a left back.

To think that would have preferred Zaba's clone to play in his position at one point

Our defence was excellent today.Newcastle put us under a lot of pressure to give them plenty of the ball but they didn't manage too many chances did they.Hart definitely did very well and that save was crucial but for me it's the 2 center backs who stood out.Kompany made that cock up with Zaba so I go for Demichelis who fully justified his selection.

Aleks was good too and yet again gets forward with a crucial contribution plus his improved defending.

went with Hart because he made some big saves.

Fern deserves alot of praise as well, he did well as a shield in front of the back 4

What i love about Kolarov and Navas is that they make crossing look easy. Which to be honest it should be. They simply look up, and pick a pass with a bit of pace. That's all crossing is usually but 95% of footballers for some reason lose all composure and cluelessly launch absolutely anywhere and nowt comes of it. It's as simple as passing it across and that's how so, so many of our goals come - simple drag backs from overlapping runs. Honestly think that crossing is mainly a composure thing that some players have and others don't. Fortunately we have two that have it.

Demichellis for me. Thought he was outstanding and can see him retaining the position until the end of the season.

Bit surprised tbh. I thought that he worked as hard as ever and really put himself about but it didn't quite come off for him in an attacking sense Imo. Missed a few good chances and gave the ball away and got a bit lucky with his goal .

Mr Kolarov for me, that block at the end was super and was like scoring a goal in itself.
