Your dead right and the cunts have put a right spin on his comments. It's pretty sad that they have to stoop so low. Most non city fans will lap this up and gladly go along with portraying us as an arrogant bunch.

I think both of you need to reread some of the quotes. As the thread title suggests, this isn't about Pellegrini's words, but Kompany's (if true).

And Kompany, 27, says it is inevitable that City will do the quadruple at some stage in the near future.
"We can't promise it will happen now, but eventually it will have to happen," said the Belgium defender.
"We are the players at the moment who have been chosen to do it. If it's not us then it will be other players."
"This club definitely has a target to win every competition possible."

It's a given we'll achieve something no other club in this country has achieved before? What, because we have the owners with the deepest pockets? We haven't even won the damn Champions League yet, but the quadruple is a certainty? Because, you know, everything always goes according to plan, as history has taught us.

Shocking.

I get what you are saying mate but the manager was mis-quoted so whats to say Vinnie was'nt that was the point i was trying to make.My fault when i try to write stuff i fuck it up sorry.

The manager wasn't misquoted - the media printed what Pellegrini said. But in their headlines they sensationalised it. Pellegrini played the quadruple down and if the average fan out there read what he said then they would have realised that (despite the headlines).

Kompany, on the other hand, has said it's only a matter of time before we win the quadruple, which will be interpreted as arrogance. Unless the quotes are incorrect, it's surprising to hear Kompany say something like that.

Those quotes could easily mean the club will win all those comps at some point, not necessarily in the same year.

Read again what I said. I am aware of that fact & I think it's even worse. Even if the club may achieve said feat in the future, it most certainly is not a given.

If he talked about this team exclusively, I'd be able to file it under overconfidence. If he said 'maybe' or 'probably', like you Ted, it would be no big deal either. What he's essentially saying is that we have so much money/ambition/expertise (more than any other club) that it's a matter of time & if this team doesn't win it, the club will buy/grow better players to do it. Implying that others don't have the means to stop us & never will! Arrogant, highly disrespectful to other football clubs & delusional on top of it.

Imagine a rag or Arsenal player saying that a decade or so ago.

Would you have preferred it if he'd said "What? Little City win something? No chance". He said we'll do it eventually. Let the rest of them worry about it until we do.

As for this season, I'll settle for a domestic treble, as I don't think that's ever been done

However good you are, I think the fixture list or freak happenings (deflections, poor decisions etc) will always defeat a quadruple.

Prove me wrong Vinnie.

I still find it incredible that our captain is talking about us winning a quadruple, and meanwhile over at the Swamp their captain has thrown in the towel hahahaha

I think if we are still in with a shot on the 10th of April we can start to talk about it in hushed voices in the corner of the pub.

So, our aim is to win the quadruple and if it's not this group then we'll keep on trying with other groups.

What's not to like.

Cheers Vinnie.

Maybe Vin comes across as arrogant. Maybe he should have added 'probably'. But he's a footballer and not a diplomat. He's also a kid of 27.

And a great captain. But more than that, just see how upset he gets when we lose a goal even when we are four up, and how pumped he is when we win. How good is it having a captain like that?

If he says something like that while still full of endorphins from our latest victory, well, good on him. And had Mario said it, we'd have all seen the statement in a different light. Edit: I miss Mario not least because he'd have said something much more inflammatory by now and wound up every journo and started a dozen threads on rag message boards and we'd be pissing ourselves.

As a statement of intent it sounds good to me.
