Tom Cleverly has now joined in with Gollum, Macari and every other naive rag by insisting the title is not over for them.
I suppose they have to take this line, and will continue to do so until mathematically impossible, otherwise it will all be about will they or won't they make the top 4, which is a bit embarrassing really seeing as they are defending champions.

Once it is mathematically impossible the emphasis will then shift to next season and what they are going to do to get 'their' title back. Double page interviews with darren felcher and fresh off another one year deal sister in law shagger giggs. Whoever wins will find themselves being overlooked at this time while endless lists of superstars are rumoured to be joining the moyes "revolution".
If "revolution" means raiding southampton and everton for their best then let it roll....

Back in the day, pre Baconface, in the media the rags used to win the title in August every year.

Then Liverpool etc won it in May.

I see Ince has been given the heave ho at Blackpool today. Ex rags under Baconface dont fare very well. Ince, Keane, Robson, Bruce is average, hopefully Solksjaer will fall flat on his face, Darren Ferguson, Berg, Hughes, Appleton. Im sure there are others.

Have TalkShite on in the background and a City trader just cracked a joke: Moyse absolutely promises that the scum will be a European competition next year - even if he has to write the song himself!!

Good. It's just a shame they didn't hand out a retrospective ban to Rafael for good measure.

Time for another injection of lunacy. They already have Mata signed up and he's going to save them! One thinks Ribery would actually come to them! Moyes thinks they can win the league. Mass delusion!

oh sit down (Manchester United): Im so torn between mata and knowing that our problems lie else where. Perhaps a change in system is on the cards, maybe rooney is going and maybe moyes just doesnt rate kagawa, it is not impossible that thats the issue. We so used to Rooney being the main man and perhaps the unknown if he does leave is what is worrying. What is not unknown is we need quality and right now anywhere will do and for a proven pl player, why not

manutd_monkey (Manchester United): All this talk about mata but could we be missing a trick with looking past players like Gaitan and cabbela.i would take 1 of them plus cabye over mata any day and if where talking in the 30 plus million area then cabbela and cabye for me would be the best option

THIS TWAT EVEN CALLS HIMSELF A RAG - rags12utd (Manchester United): Like a lot of people here, I am excited at the prospect of buying Juan Mata. I will not get my hopes too high after what has happened in the past but I want to talk about the do we need him or not subject. Maybe on paper, as per traditions, philosophy, style etc. and whatever GN said, then NO. But times have changed and teams have to adapt to these variances. You can't rely on philosophy, traditions etc. Philosophy will give you Valencia or Ashley Young.. Showing intent will give you Juan Mata. Also lads, think about it, did Barcelona NEED Neymar? NO! Did Real Madrid need Bale? NO! Did Bayern need Thiago? No! Did Chelsea need Willian? NO! and these examples go on and on.. Such calibre players don't become available everyday and every window. You accomodate them, just like we did with RVP and look what happened with that. It would create a fantastic buzz withing the squad and give them a boost about the things that could happen ahead. For me, plain and simple, the guy is too good to turn down. Just do your best and get him in

m.unitedloyal (Manchester United): The way people are saying 40m to much for mata is insane . why are we interested in saving the glazers from an inflated price on a player, I say spend spend spend. 40 M for a world class (very close to) creative midfielder. Who could have a bigger influence on our team that ozil for arsenal. We shouldn't be concerned about uniteds spending we all want quailty players in , it doesn't concern us what we spend on quailty as that's what they are And are unlikely to flop. Mata in now would solve a transfer on the summer and allow us to maybe actually sign someone !! Doubt we'll sign anyone though especially mata

waterloounited (Manchester United): Firstly, I hope this Mata thing is not true. For 40 million, there has to be players out there, who could walk into this team.take your pik, gundogon, ribery, just a couple come to mind.we don't need a attacking midfeilder, theres lots that can play that role.don't get me wrong, hes a lovely player, left foot right foot.Cant help feeling, if jose cant get the best out of him, wat chance has moysey got, and thats not disrespecting moyes.I think with time this guy is going to show his true worth.Anyway sorry for bangin on, heres hoping we can put in a good showig against sunderland.

pautag (Manchester United): He is seriously considering mata? I don't get it. I think he is confused. He doesn't play kagawa, what does he need mata for? Unless he plans to play him out of position. Seriously I'm baffled ! I'm pretty sure this will not happen there is no way on earth we will pay 40 mil for a player. Of course I'm speculating but I don't think the money is there . I am pretty sure there wil be a sell to buy agreement reached for the summer . Although how much would we get for Evra, nani, smalling, Valencia, young, cleverly, welbeck, these guys are not united standard and never wil be, but unfortunately their value reflects this. I thin we are lucky if we get 30 million for the lot. In moyes we trust :

matthew23 (Manchester United): If we get Mata dose it mean Rooney will go Chelsea in the summer transfer window?

al13 (Manchester United): If the Mata rumors are true, then i really think its a good move for us, He can only improve on what we have at the moment, It would be only Moyes second big signing of this career and this time a good one, Not like the artist impression of a midfielder we got with Fellaini

urmston red (Manchester United): I tell you what lads, Mata would be a brilliant signing. But, however, after the shambles of the summer and the letdowns we've endured over the years, I'm not getting too excited about it.. just yet. I'm just stunned that Mourinho would seriously consider selling him in the first place. He's been their best player over the last two seasons as well and you only have to listen to the Chelsea fans views on it, and they aren't happy at all, and I'm not surprised. Mata is exactly the type of attacking playmaker/midfielder we've been crying out for over the past 4-5 years and he will strengthen us. He's an Ozil or David Silva type player and will create chances, many chances if you look at his record, something of which the likes of Young and Valencia just aren't capable of doing. My only concern is if this deal does happen, I wonder whether Rooney is going the other way next summer as part of the negotiations? For now though, a front four of RvP, Rooney, Mata, Januzaj/Kagawa would look very strong on paper. Could Moyes transform that onto the pitch? Let's hope he could. If he does sign, it'll be a big lift to not only the fans but the team as well. The signing of just one star player can make a big difference. Look at Ozil's impact for Arsenal and Van Persie's for us last season

prescott (Manchester United): Just read something that encourages me regarding the Mata signing. Chelsea are in a pretty dire position with regards to FIFA FairPlay, so a huge cash bid for a benched player would provide a good solution for them. RvP up top behind Rooney, Mata and Januzaj would be interesting to say the least. I actually think it's a genius move on Moyes behalf (credit where due) as the new formation would mean less reliance on our traditional wingers (who are all crap) and focuses on the defensive (see lack of offensive) skills from our current centre mids. With these four in attack, a pairing of Carrick and Fletcher/Jones would fulfil its role nicely. Another encouraging aspect is that AMC is not our biggest weakness, so if we have money for that position, it suggests we have a decent war chest. Good news all round and I hope Moyes et al pull it off.

rez78 (Manchester United): Guys this is a bit off topic since most are talking about Mata. But PLEASE take time to read this about our club's financial situation and what would happen if we didn't play in the CL for 2 season. You will be pleasantly surprised by the end of it and afterwards don't need to believe any other garbage from tabloids or idiot pundits! This is a real effort by a fellow United supporter to inform us all so I wanted to share it. It's also good ammo for banter when a numpty says we are "skint and done for"! .... http://andersred.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01 ... ncial.html

lansky (Manchester United): What we should, could and can is very different from what actually will happen under David Moyes. Not at all saying we don't lack quality, but Moyes hasn't even utilized the quality we actually have. Like most United fans, I have no illusions or optimism in us getting Mata. But let us say we actually could get him. Then we should buy him. And we should utilize the trio of Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj behind that striker. But heck, we already have Januzaj and Kagawa - and he isn't utilizing the quality of Kagawa. After a promising game against Swansea in the no 10 role, a game that also showed Januzaj as better in a wider role, he goes back to Young and Valencia vs Chelsea. He has wasted Kagawa, so why would he do better with Mata? Now, not signing Ozil, that can be defended. Mata is after all proven to be very efficient in a more wider free role, while Ozil is a pure nr 10. But to use the reasoning of Kagawa and Rooney already playing in the role - AND ALMOST NEVER USE KAGAWA THERE - the man has been talking nonsense. We have a manager completely lacking visions, he is a conservative manager with conservative tactics. He will never get the best out of free-flowing, dynamic footballers like Januzaj, Kagawa and Mata

Actually, them paying 80 million for Ribery and then he's found guilty of the underage thing, and locked up for a couple of years sounds like quite an amusing scenario.
