Clichy

Back to his best tonight. I've criticized him all season but tonight he was solid defensively, good going forward and put in a couple of really nice crosses.

For his cross for Aguero, he drove at the defender looked up and put the cross in, I wish he did that more often. That's what he needs to do.

He had a fantastic one to Dzeko as well. Good game over all.

I've been criticising him this season as well as I know he can be so much better. But credit where its due, great game today. Keep it up Gael!

The difference was his positivity going forward. 9/10 times in a crossing position he'll look up, wait, let the defender get tight and pass it back. Allowing the other team to sort their defence.
Just crossing the ball early with intent makes such a difference.

Scored a cracker against Everton though. Fully deserved his two years off on full pay.

Eggsactly. There were thoughts that Lennon would cause us trouble but I didn't notice him all night. We turned up tonight and gave Spurs a lesson (another one) And Gael did a great job.

My thought exactly, I honestly had to double check after the game to make sure Lennon was out there.

@Mase, I'm disappointed Kolarov didn't snap Demento Adebayor in two when he came on.

I really thought he was going to do an Arsenal, where he went from superb to average, but he has got better & better recently, & tonight he was right back to his absolute best. You won't see a better fullback display than that.

Pellets has worked wonders with this squad. Almost every single player has improved since he took over

This might sound churlish, but I disagree that they have particularly improved as players. One or two are thriving in his system and have genuinely improved, but Kolarov (who most would say on the face of it has improved) for me is no better a defender than he was before, and in fact plays half his appearances on the wing for us where he is not better than before, just allowed to do what he does.

All these players always had this in them, and this level of performance was always (for me) an expectation from buying such talent.

What he has achieved is not necessarily improving the players from the level they were at under Mancini, but he has given them a platform to play to their ability and as a cohesive unit, which was lacking in previous seasons.

Like I say, perhaps it's ultra critical of me to say they haven't improved, but I honestly don't think the players are any better than they were in May.

put in some fantastic crosses tonight and looked pretty good. unluckily for him, Pellegrini loves attacking and, therefore, plays Kolarov more. tbf though, Kolarov has been very good this season.

It was the correct choice to neutralise their biggest threat and I only noticed Lennon when he popped up on the right and got more purchase from Zabs who is not as good at defending pacy wingers.

Surprisingly this was a point my brother made about choosing the right fullbacks and tactical mistakes made by Mancini.

He may be the least wrong he has ever been, not saying he's right, that would be OTT, but he's not mostly wrong.
