phips, what does Nasri's girlfriend have to say on the issue? Or how about some expert opinions from "in the know" tweets?

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has warned Manchester City off trying to sign Blaise Matuidi

Recent reports have suggested that City may make a January offer for 23-year-old French midfielder Matuidi, whose current contract with PSG runs out at the end of the season.

The Ligue 1 giants themselves have been linked with a number of big names, but the club's president insists that they always try to follow the rules while trying to sign players and expect their rivals to do the same.

Al-Khelaifi has also admitted that PSG tried to sign Hazard from Lille in 2012, but backed out once they realised that Chelsea were in an advanced stage of negotiation.

"Interest from Manchester City in Matuidi? I am not worried because they know that if they touch one of our players, then we will be in opposition to them, and we will go and contact their players too," he told L'Equipe.

"We respect all clubs, but if a club tries to buy one of our players, then it will have to face consequences.

"I don't aim this at Manchester City, as from what I know, they did not contact Matuidi."

If we find out a club is breaking the rules, then we'll break the rules too?

I think it'd be funny to see two clubs like Real and PSG with an 18 month transfer ban.

Apparently news reports we are 90% certain for signing this fernando bloke from Porto. Never heard of him personally, wonder if it means Garcia or Rodwell leave if true?

Fernando's nickname is the Octopus

He is the older brother of Fernandinho.

Moving Demi in the dm spot means the Count doesn't really rate Rodwell...

Just had a look around & this Fernando stuff is absolutely rife ont net now.

Beeks has just quoted the Times on BM transfer forum, claiming we are in for both Fernando & Mangela (prob summer for Mangela).

If we tie those two deals up, then Txiki & the Count can spend the summer on the piss & smoke lots of cigars; fuck all else to do.

Aparently, the bloke Utd wanted for their midfield.

Brazilian/Potuguese def mid from Porto. Not seen much of him myself but highly rated by those who have. Some liken him to a more defensive version of Fernandinho. Likes a tackle apparently. If he arrives, I imagine Garcia will be on his bike in the summer.

Imagine a taller Nigel De Jong who can pass forwards instead of sideways.. that's Fernando.

This guy is basically NDJ version 2.0.. and oh how we have lacked a true destroyer since he left. Both Javi Garcia and Jack Rodwell have tried and failed to fill Niges boots and you have to think their days here are now very very numbered. Signing Fernando would be as big a show of no confidence to the pair as you can get... well... that and the fact Pelle opted to shift a tired Demi into the mid from CB tonight rather than bring on either Javi or Rodders... everything taken into account, it suggests he just doesn't rate them.

Also having heard we are nicking this lad from under the rags noses, we must also count this somewhat of a double victory, I say this because I'd imagine "IF" Fernando did infact snub us and went to join the rags after all he could well be the catalyst to push them back into the top 4 (more so than even Mata), something that I honestly hope doesn't happen and if we can make top 4 harder for them to achieve while strengthening our squad in the process I'm all for it.

not heard of this guy but the only 2 positions we really need strengthening right now are CM and CH.

Pellegrini doesnt seem to rate Rodwell and hopefully recognizes Garcia's weaknesses.

After seeing Pellegrini's reaction on BT sport when asked if we were after anyone I am absolutely convinced we are. No idea who though (pretty much standard procedure for City).

Portuguese press saying that we are in talks with Fernando at Porto. He is out of contract in the summer so a fee now would get him.

Dont watch porto so know nothing about this chap, but if he is a defensive minded midfielder then thats probably curtins for rodwell. in fact i suppose pelligrini will have a bit of a clear out in the summer, departing the players he inherited that he doesnt want.

Rodwell is quite clearly made of glass and we got taken to the cleaners on that deal. I know we have others who have had injury troubles, but two years of a fringe player being barely fit is just not good enough.
