Barcelona going to the dogs?

Postby john@staustell » Sun Feb 02, 2014 7:42 am

So as well as the well-reported trouble with the Neymar transfer, Euro investigations, court investigations, the socio structure arrangement, the debts, the President resigning - lets not forget the once-mighty team itself is fraying around the edges.

Messi back, but the team that got soundly thrashed by Bayern last Spring may well be 3rd in La Liga by tonight. Despite getting one of the dodgiest penalties ever seen in football they lost 3-2 last night, at home, to Valencia, who haven't got a pot to pee in.

Atletico almost certainly (home to Real Sociedad) and Madrid probably (away to Athletic de Bilbao) will be 3 points ahead. Oh dear.

We should be heading straight for the jugular on 18th Feb.

I would just love it if that is the case. Most overrated player in the last 10 years by far. I don't know why I have such a dislike for him as a football player but I think it's because they replaced Yaya with him, who is clearly the superior player of the two. It all worked out in the end for us though :)

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Pellegrini just needs to remind Yaya that Barca reckon Busquets is better than him and he has two games to prove them right or wrong

a superior player on the whole? clearly. better in that role in that system at that time? no. it was sensible move for them back then.

I definitely don't agree. Yaya was perfect in the role at the time, with those players around him. Busquets definitely did not do a better job and before he matured, he made tons of mistakes. Sure, young players make mistakes and that's how they learn but replacing Toure wasn't a wise choice in either the short-run or the long-run.

Very Dangerous to underestimate them.

We need Sergio in both legs for us to win imo.

If Messi and Iniesta are on their A game then we will be in trouble.

I don't believe the first but do the second.

It will be very tough over two legs I believe. I know we can do it tho. Can and will are two different things.

yaya was good but not perfect in that role. at barca's peak a few seasons ago, their high press with busquets was incredible and streets ahead. however, I fully agree that in the long run - with xavi, puyol and co. aging and pep now gone - they'd have been stronger with yaya in the team.

They have lost 1 game. Lets get some perspective here.

They are still a formidable outfit with top players. Messi to name one. They might not be all conquering like Peps side but they are still damn good.

Can and will we beat them over 2 legs? Yes and we will see
