He did do ok but had far too much work to do, as did Yaya. It's a load of people looking for a reason why we had our pants pulled down in midfield & picking the easy target.
He recieved too little help from the younger, fitter, faster players & the forwards who were outrun by their Chelsea counterparts.
If you had put Luiz & Ramierez next to him, he could have done his job without breaking sweat.
If Milner had tried to do the same job in that lineup, with the rest of the team playing as they were, he would have been eaten alive.

Spot on. Demech did ok last night within the limitations he has of minimal pace. Garcia would have been exactly the same.Fernandinho is clearly streets ahead of anyone else we have for that role but even he wouldn't have stopped what was happening if left effectively on his own.Milner or Rodwell might have done better but I am not sure.Chelsea were just perfectly organised and set up to play City and they executed their plan perfectly.
Watching them target Yaya at times and gang up on him was fascinating but it was the way they set up with 2 very very competent and mobile holding midfield players that was the key to their game. They sat in position and just allowed their 4 players to run riot with their great energy, skill and mobility.
We lost to the better team who were better organised but we had some chances.I hear Matic stifled Silva and never gave him a kick and I would agree Matic was very very good. But it's also true that Silva had 2 great chances to score as he found great positions in the box.You simply have to take chances that fall in games against teams like Chelsea. We didn't and their right back lashed in an unstoppable left footer!
One of the things Pellegrini has done well for me this season is learn lessons. He learned about playing away in the premiership but it took 3 bad defeats to get there. He has learned that 2 up top isn't always the way to go against some teams. He though he could do it last night but he was wrong imo.Maybe he can do it if one of them is Aguero but not when it's Edin and Negredo and especially against 2 top centre backs. They were completely ineffective last night and I expect lessons to be learned .

Positioning for the goal.
All the defenders grouped leaving a massive space and our 'defensive' midfielder bottom of the picture.
Eto'o would have knocked any rebound in.

If you swap Yaya for Demichelis, not a cat in hell's chance of that being a goal, or them getting a shot off in the buildup.

If Demichelis had at least tried to recover his position then we wouldn't have been in a situation where they had two players lined up on the edge of our area waiting to pull the trigger. He just stood in the right back position having been made look a chump again by Hazard out on the sideline. Yes Yaya is lazy at recovering ground but fuck me that from Demichelis was on a whole different planet of laziness.

As for Demichelis, the man is a liability with his lunging tackles.
Why not play Vinny in that role and put Demichelis at center back ?,he played this role at Hamburg, and he is a better option in that role than the aging Demichelis. For me it was ludicrous playing him there last night.
