THE BOLLOX

As the dust settles on one game, the headlines are just beginning to turn to other matters at hand. Monday's disappointment hasn't been forgotten but for now, everyone's looking to the future...
Like Jesus Navas who is backing the Blues to bounce back from the home defeat to Chelsea - according to Goal.com.
Writes Ewan Roberts: "Navas insists that Manuel Pellegrini's men are not worried by their performance or that their dominant home form has come to a crashing end and the former Sevilla man predicts that City will return to top form sooner rather than later.
According to the website, the Spaniard told reporters: "We were on a really good dynamic run and we were expecting to win but it didn't happen.
"But let's keep looking forward and winning more matches again. The team has the potential to go on another run like we have. We want to be in the first spot so we will keep working to get there.
"We usually play against great teams and we usually win but we are satisfied with the way we played against Chelsea and hopefully we can win the next games ahead.
"We are on the right track. When they scored, it was hard for us but we worked well so we are not worried about it. The team worked until the end and had options. We could have won so we are not worried about this one loss."
Amen, Jesus!
Elsewhere, HereIsTheCity.com are reporting that Stevan Jovetic has no regrets about joining the Blues, admitting that he wished he'd made the move sooner!
Scribes Dan Coombs: "The Montengrin star has seen his time at the club blighted by injury so far, but having scored a week earlier against Tottenham, there are signs he is coming into form a just the right time heading down the title stretch.
"It's so far been an anti-climax for the 24-year-old, who was the subject of one of the most drawn out transfer sagas of the summer.
"Arsenal had appeared the most likely team to sign the player, linked with his signature throughout the build-up to the transfer window, but dropped their interest in mid-July, unwilling to match Fiorentina's £25 million asking price.
According to Coombs, Jovetic revealed: "I never regretted the choice. Sure these 4-5 months have been difficult at the beginning because I was not playing - I got injured often but now it is all behind.
"I never doubted myself even in the most difficult moments. I knew that I could play in this team and now I have to prove.
"[Why did I join] City? Matija Nastasic and I talked a lot; he convinced me. I decided to come here because there is a major project with many players.
"I should have come the year before, but I was happy and I had a nice season with Montella and Fiorentina. There was also Real Madrid, but I chose City."
Good choice, Stevan... Good choice!
And finally, according to ChampionsLeague.ca, Barcelona are considering a £50m bid for David Silva.
"The Gaffer" - and that's not Manuel Pellegrini, I might add! - claims: "The Catalan club see Silva as a potential long-term replacement for now ageing midfielder Xavi, and are willing to go 'all out' in order to lure the star to the Nou Camp.
"Silva has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League since his move to the Etihad, hitting 57 assists and 22 goals in just 160 appearances for the mega-rich club.
"Silva would apparently be tempted by the move, as he attempts to further establish himself as a regular in the Spanish international side – a team that he has largely remained on the fringe of.
"Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to keep hold of his midfield maestro, but with Barcelona’s Xavi hitting almost 35, Barcelona appear ready to make their massive bid to get their star replacement."
With seemingly no evidence to back this story up, I'm afraid I have to question the credibility of the source but then again, how often are transfer rumours ever proved right?!
Ah well! That's all for today. As always, we'll be back at the same time tomorrow morning to round-up the morning's media speculation...

Navas backs Manchester City to bounce back from Chelsea loss
The Spain international played 90 minutes in Monday's defeat, a result which ended a 12-game unbeaten run in the league, but is confident that the club will return to winning ways
Manchester City winger Jesus Navas backs his side to recover from their 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Monday night and is confident that they can summon another dominant run of form.
Branislav Ivanovic's ferocious first-half strike was the difference between the two sides as the Blues ended City's 100 per cent league record at the Etihad Stadium and stopped them from scoring at home for the first time since November 2010.

But Navas insists that Manuel Pellegrini's men are not worried by their performance or that their dominant home form has come to a crashing end and the former Sevilla man predicts that City will return to top form sooner rather than later.
"We were on a really good dynamic run and we were expecting to win but it didn't happen," the Spaniard told reporters.

Eto'o to Yaya Touré - 'Give Me Your Shirt, I'll Slap You!' Unusual Exchange
Do not be fooled! The two African stars did not come to blows. Far from it, despite the defeat of Manchester city against Chelsea (0-1) in Premier League Monday, the link between the two men is always tied. The scene takes place during halftime between Citizens and Blues.
Eto'o who had just given his jersey to Yaya expected that of the Ivorian. The latter delays in make his gesture. A joking attitude that arguably seemed to infuriate the Indomitable Lion. The exchange is funny and friendly: Eto'o: "Give me your shirt little brother!" Yaya: "I say I'll not give you!" Eto'o: "I'll slap you eh, you think you are tall and so... ? " they all burst into laughter.
At the end of the exchange, while Yaya Toure showed him the damage caused by his tackle in the first half, Eto'o is happy with the career of the Ivory Coast: "I am very proud of you! I swear bro!!

Manchester United joining Real Madrid, Liverpool, Manchester City, four more in US friendly tournament
English football giants Manchester United have announced that they will return to the United States for a pre-season tour ahead of the 2014-15 campaign in Europe.
The Premier League champions are due to compete in the International Champions Cup alongside fellow English heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool.
The friendly tournament will also feature European powerhouses Real Madrid, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Roma and Olympiakos, organisers announced on Tuesday.
The eight teams will be split into two groups, with the winners of each pool facing off in the final at Florida’s Sun Life Stadium, home of NFL outfit the Miami Dolphins, on August 4.
It is set to be United’s fifth pre-season tour of the United States, long considered one of the great undeveloped markets for football.
Their most recent visit came in 2011, when the club played four American teams and Spanish side Barcelona across three cities.
However, plans for the tour may be altered if United have to take part in the early qualifying stages of the Champions League or the Europa League in August.
Now managed by David Moyes following the retirement of serial trophy-winner Alex Ferguson, United are currently seventh in the Premier League table -- seven points adrift of the Champions League places.
“Teams required to qualify for 2014-15 European competition based on 2013-14 domestic league finishing position may be subject to change,” read a statement on United’s website.
United managing director Richard Arnold welcomed the tour, saying: “I’m delighted to announce that the team will be returning to the USA for our 2014 Tour, presented by Aon.
“Since the club’s last visit in 2011, the appeal of football in America has grown rapidly.
“NBC reported that this season’s Barclays Premier League opening weekend saw the average viewership rise by 78 percent from the 2012-13 season, with Manchester United’s match against Swansea being the most-watched game.
“Manchester United has over eight million followers in the United States and the 2014 Tour presents an exciting opportunity for these fans to get up close to the club they love.”
Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Minneapolis, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Miami, Washington DC and another two cities will host the International Champions Cup matches.
The schedule for the tournament is due to be announced on February 20.
