My Swansea-supporting mates generally see him as 'another manager carefully chosen by Jenkins', but think he's more prone to rocking the boat and angling for a move to a bigger club than Martinez, Sousa and Rodgers were. I don't know whether the Swans have got someone lined up (Poyet would have been my bet had he gone earlier), or if the relationship soured too much, but the Chairman will have the majority of the fans' backing on this, in my opinion.

I don't doubt it. The club seems to be run well (leaving aside this decision) but I can't imagine who they have lined up. It'll have to be someone who likes to play football.

so hiring an ambitious manager is a bad move? As soon as someone wants to be competitive and crack on after winning a cup he's a cunt?

Swansea's whole ethos is about careful financial management while playing football that fills their small stadium until they can convince the other stadium stakeholders that it is financially viable to expand it (both the council and Ospreys rugby club were erring on the side of building a McDonalds on the site of the most feasible zone of expansion a couple of seasons ago, believing it was the most profitable option, and this still wasn't 100% resolved as of a fortnight ago: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-sout ... s-25846415). They cannot - and refuse to attempt to - compete on a financial footing with any other team in the top 12-14 in the Prem. If you look at it from their fans' point of view (at least the 3-4K who were watching them a decade or more ago), they would rather the club eke out a living in the lower echelons of the Prem while playing entertaining football than do a Bradford/Portsmouth/etc., which they have all witnessed firsthand before.

I was flipping channels and caught that in the end ... was gonna watch the last 10 mins and wait for pens but Sheff U did them in last min ... and I was thinking the same, maybe their (Fulham's) new owners are now thinking hmmm, Laudrup's available and if we can get him first before West Ham does Fat Sam ... Rene might not return to Old Trafford this Sunday, he's been that bad anyway, I was expecting him gone before Laudrup or even Fat Sam anyway ...

Also read somewhere on Twitter ... actually, Gary Neville re-tweeted someone that Pellegrini now is the 11th oldest boss in Premier League ... such has been the merry go round of managers this season ... understandable, knowing the increase in TV money from next season, no one wants to go down this year!

Unbelievably, this now means David Moyes is now the 9th longest-serving manager in the Prem.

one thing I have to say about Swansea is they always seem to make a good decision with Managers.

Martinez was a great appointment
Rogers did great with Swansea too
Laudrup also did well with them

they seem to have a good recruitment policy

Seems another case of losing the dressing room from what I've picked up.
He did well first season as he had the Martinez and Rodgers foundations but has been found out this season.

Only a 27% win ratio overall and now only 2 points above relegation zone. Maybe it was the right move.

He also gives the impression he is not long term.

He didn't have the players to succeed at the passing game once Michu disappeared and they looked spineless v Wham. Said watching that he was ripe for the bullet.

Heard on the radio he is considering legal action. Not sure how that works, aren't they already paying out his contract?

Do you have a single redeemable quality?

There is not one personality trait you display on here I can't imagine wouldn't make you detestable in real life.

Sad really.
