Premier League: Willie Donachie resigns as reserve team manager at Newcastle

Willie Donachie has resigned from his position as reserve team manager with Newcastle United after allegations he hit a player.

The St James' Park club suspended the 62-year-old earlier on Thursday while they investigated the claims.

It is understood Donachie was involved in an altercation with Newcastle's 19-year-old defender Remie Streete.

A club statement read: "Newcastle United can confirm that Willie Donachie has resigned from his position as reserve team manager with immediate effect.

"The club will be making no further comment."

Former Scotland international Donachie had been with Newcastle since 2009, holding various roles in the club's academy.

Most 19 year olds need a smack or two since their dads weren't allowed to...probably.

a salutary lesson for all young bucks who think that anyone that age is past it.
Must be a role for him back here with our young uns ?

Maybe not
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.
