Probably with a release clause for the summer, otherwise he wouldn't be allowed to play for the rest of the season.

How much is it, though? That is the question.

The question is whether we are willing to pay it, or indeed whether we have helped negotiate it.

If not, the rags or similar probably will, & if they rate him higher than we do, he is fully entitled to sign for them.

Some 3rd party rights and/or Porto agreeing new terms....

Looks like I was right. They prob agreed new terms with an agreement to sign him so Porto could make money off the sale

For a footballer, a World Cup in your home country is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

After receiving his first international call-up in nearly two years, it’s a chance that Fernandinho intends to grasp with both hands.

The 28-year old’s scintillating form in his first six months in the Premier League has convinced Brazil boss Luis Felipe Scolari to call up the midfielder to the squad travelling to Johannesburg for a friendly against South Africa next month.

“I’m very proud to have received the call and I’m very excited at the prospect of representing my country again,” Fernandinho said after receiving the news.

Fernandinho’s last international appearance was in a friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina in February 2012, one of five caps he’s earned for the Seleção.

Brazil take on South Africa on Wednesday 5 March 2014 at 17:00 (BST) in their penultimate friendly before the World Cup gets under way in June.

We’ll bring you a full report on how Fernandinho gets on in Johannesburg, as well as updates on all of our other international players in action on that FIFA date.

i read somewhere that fernando's release clause in the summer is 30m euros. a far cry from free, which we could've had him for if porto didn't jerk him around.

This isn't confirmed. There are still lots of papers claiming we will get him for free.

Great news for him he deserves to be in that squad for the World Cup.It"s been somewhat of a mystery how he has been overlooked in the first place considering his form this season.

Fernando's agent has just come out and said his client will sign for a Premier League team this summer but also said City weren't the only PL club interested in him in January.

he signed a new contract with them so we have to stump up some big cash in the summer. His agent said they were not willing to let him leave in January and if he didn't sign a new contract he was going to train with the youth team until his contract runs out.

Well now we've signed this Argentinian lad are we really looking for another central midfielder? Unless there is a clearout(Rodwell, Garcia, maybe even Milner) and I'm not saying that's a bad thing, we don't need two especially as they won't displace either Fred or Yaya.

We must be, because as mentioned, the deal for Zucculini was negotiated in the summer, & we've been trying to sign Fernando in Jan. Also, due to the nature of centre mid, it's quite possible both Yaya & Fernandinho could find themselves out for a spell at the same time. We have seen recently how Fernandinho has sometimes just played half a game, & Yaya has played in spite of having some kind of back problem & is also getting older.

And of course Garcia has been injured, & Rodwell is usually injured, so that highlights it. Plus Zucculini is just a kid.

Both this lad & Fernando, seem a lot quicker & more mobile than the likes of Garcia, Barry, Nige, who we have become accustomed to seeing. I think we will get more of an idea of a true Pellegrini team when we make a few changes there & get a quick centre back as well. More energy in the squad.

Mangala seems very expensive but I think Pellers likes him.

Pretty impressive shit this.

Shall we give him POTY now........far from my favourite player, but I have to admit I have never seen anything as decisive as this.

Would be interesting though to see if it's skewed massively in the other direction when the league cup and fa cup games are added in.
