Would be interesting though to see if it's skewed massively in the other direction when the league cup and fa cup games are added in.

His injury coincided with a dip in for for the team, IMO. Fernandinho not being selected shouldn't cause Negredo to play shit for instance.
However, if these stats still look like this after a couple of seasons, we double his wages and give him a 10 year contract.
Has the world gone mad, ..............or is it me?

I just hope he's fully fit if we are going to play him.

If he is really match sharp, imo he is of the same standard as Yaya, Silva, & the Barca mids. He is one of the best on the planet.

If he's not, there is no point in having a Fernandinho who is not upto speed. Garcia would be a better choice.

I wouldn't say it's decisive. It could also mean that when he doesn't play, Pellegrini tries other midfield constellations, attacking set-ups, etc. His injury has also coincided with teh absense of Silva (to some extent) and Agüero. In a nutshell, the sample is too small, especially that of games where he's been absent.

I would downgrade it to whatever is below decisive. What would that be?

I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

Those are skys famous cherry picked tv tabloid statistics, they havent got the brains to do it properly. There are many other factors to consider, which of course they completely ignore.
However that aside he has been an excellent signing, probably our best of last summer.

Er......so when he doesn't play, Pellegrini tries other midfield combinations.

And the outcome........we have a massively different win % when he tries said 'other' combinations of world class players.

There might be a number of other factors, but as an observation it's pretty fucking compelling that we seem to struggle for whatever reason when he isn't there. For balance, ifyou throw in the league cup and FA Cup games he has been involved in, the win percentage hardly changes either.

And for what it's worth, quick recollection of the games he didn't play off the top of my head
Chelsea (l) included Silva, Yaya, Negredo (the guy who has nearly as many as Aguero)
Norwich (d) Silva, Yaya, Negredo played
Stoke (d), Silva, Nasri, Aguero, Negredo, Yaya played
Sunderland (l), Nasri, Aguero, Negredo, Yaya played

Negredo's goal scoring form hasn't really been what it used to be though and this started before Ferna went out.

The loss at chelsea Silva was involved yes but it was also his return from an injury absence and it partnered Yaya with Demi because of further injuries besides Ferna, MIlner and Garcia to name two.

And those early away games were played at a time when our away form wasn't that great even with him in our team, also two losses if I recollect correctly.

As I said, a five game sample is too small.

As for the "other midfield combinations" I meant one where he tried something different in the middle of the park like Garcia and blank with Toure in front. I was just guessing though, I don't know.

The stats seem pretty good but I just wouldn't call them decisive.

We are more than a one man team but Fernandinho imo is as big a miss as Yaya, Silva or Aguero. We don't really have a Fernandinho replacement I think has been the problem, but now Garcia is stepping up.

I doubt we would have lost to Chelsea at ours if Fernandinho had played, but perhaps Garcia & Jovetic would have also made the difference had they played in the league game.

I expect him to start with Garcia in the middle to release Yaya to play with 3 others further forward.Probably Silve/Negredo and Nasri.Nasri maybe not to do more than 60 and switch with either Navas or possibly Jovetic depending on how it's going.

Just to make sure, I don't disagree with any of this or what sparty wrote. Ferna is a fantastic player but I think it will take more than a season to see if he's not just vital but more or less necessary, as that stat seems to suggest.
