Some can. Javi is now pulling his weight and looking good, but 18 months is a bit long for my liking to get there. Not looking to have a pop, but he's doing what he should and I'm not sorry for pointing out the year and a half when he didn't.
There, of course, is going to be a period for foreign players to settle in the Premier League, but Javi didn't really show many glimpses of ability over the last 18 months. He was out of his depth pretty much every time he played.
He's definitely improved in the last couple of months, but he still was poor this season until December, and letting Barry go to Everton was still a mistake in my opinion, as we had no solid cover in centre mid for a long time.
But hopefully Garcia's recent performances are a sign of things to come and he can continue to improve and make a positive contribution to the squad.
That's the key, he has to keep it up.
Since round about the time of the Bayern game, he has looked a lot closer to being the player he was in Portugal, however, Dzeko went though a spell of sublime finishing not so long ago & currently can't hit a bull's arse with a banjo.
As a centre mid, we want a consistently good level of performance from Garcia, not a year of absolute fucking dogshit followed by 5 or 6 decent games, then another year of dogshit.
Garcia himself realises he was struggling & talks about hearing the crowd reaction & it affecting him; he has to ignore all that & produce it when things are going badly.
It is encouraging recently, but by no means is he yet a proven City player.
