Its Catching...Ozil booed also

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil was booed by Germany fans when he was substituted during Wednesday night's 1-0 victory over Chile.

Ozil has had a tough time in Arsenal colours lately, missing a crucial penalty against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League last month.

He started his first season in the Premier League superbly but he has been struggling for form in recent weeks.

The midfielder set up the only goal of the game for Mario Gotze in Stuttgart, but when he was substituted a minute from full-time he was jeered and whistled by the home supporters.

Ozil's Germany team-mates leapt to his defence, with defender Jerome Boateng saying: "They have some nerve. You can't shine all the time."

Team manager Oliver Bierhoff added: "I don't understand the whistling. I find it a shame that a player such as Mesut is picked out. I would hope for different support for a game like that."

Coach Joachim Loew admitted the whole team were poor.

"We weren't capable of dominating the game. It is always good when one can see that Germany is not the only country to have good players," he said.

I don't think any player should be booed by their own fans.

Having seen him though I have no been impressed one bit. He's always on the periphery of games and hasn't done anything in the big games for Arsenal. Not a patch on Silva.
Looks like Real did good business by getting rid of him and bringing in Bale.

He will probably get better as he gets used to the game here, but even so, I thought he was a better player before he went to Real, which may also prove to be the case with Isco.

He can't get much worse to be fair.
I'll admit I never saw him play much for Real Madrid but I was told on here and by other people he was as good as someone like SIlva and one of the great playmakers. The difference is, even when Silva has a bad day and nothing comes off for him, he's always looking for the ball and trying to make things happen. Ozil more often than not is a passenger. Not looking to control things. A bit like Nasri was last season for us. Cruising through games.

He may well have been great for Madrid or in Germany but he just hasn't shown anything at all so far really, especially in big games.

His main impact for Arsenal this season was his name, which gave the fans and other players a boost, rather than what he was actually contributing on the pitch.
