If we're to have any chance we need to avoid the usual shilly-shallying, dilly-dallying and general aimlessness we begin games with at the moment. That goes for the rest of our season, too - obviously - if we are to have any chance of the league title.

I'm not attaching much of the blame of the current state of affairs to Pellegrini because these players have form for this kind of thing under Mancini. The title winning season nearly ended trophy-less because of it at around the same stage in the season, and last year was practically nine months of swanning around and sulking. There are certain players in this team who would do the same whoever the manager was.

Unless we start positively and maintain it for most of the match we have no chance tonight. We should be able to tell within the first quarter of an hour whether the players want to win the game or if they are content to do what Arsenal did last night: i.e. not much.

As I said earlier , 2-0 is the most difficult lead to defend in football.

I am half tempted to go for a ridiculous, Mancini style, suicidally stupid tactical gamble in this game, & put Yaya Toure next to VK, to play from the back.

But if I do that & it fucks up, you will all want me sacked, so I may bottle it near kickoff time.

Otherwise, I would leave the two misfiring herberts on the bench & put either Silva or Nasri in the 2nd 'striker' role, played deeper.

My main concern is Hart lumping the ball to Barca, & VK Lescott being left with no passing options if he does give them the ball, thus meaning they either lump it, lose it, or give it back to Hart to lump it, as is the usual tactic v a side which presses us.

We need all of the midfield to be willing to drop deep & receive the ball from the back 4/Hart. So I would instruct them all to do that.

If not, then we have to assume the ball will be lumped & either have to play one of the tall turkeys or put Yaya further forward.

Most of the pressure is on Barca tonight. All the lads have to do is chase them down quickly and ensure they aren't comfortable on the ball. Rattle them within the first 10 mins. Whoever has a chance against Valdes needs to make sure they are clinical because Barca will score at least one. I have faith in whoever MP picks to start (except Dzeko as he is the exact opposite of clinical).

Nothing to lose, everything to play for! Come on City!

I agree, but it only takes 1 person to not do his job or 1 person to think I am not running around being made to look a knob like I cant play football and the plan falls to pieces. ALL 11 ON THE PITCH HAVE TO DO IT from the first to the last whistle

which also means we need a strong ref because Barca will be doing all they can to play against less than 11 men
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

All in all, we have to have a perfect game. The players, the tactics, the ref and the linesmen have to be spot on. But we are City and nothing ever goes perfect for us. We do things the hard way!

That's why I love this club. CTID!
