Viva Espana ...a little bit late

Sorry it’s a tad late this week, this is the first chance I have had to sit down and get organized. The Barca fans are a little down at the moment, and given our ambitions in the CL expecting a fight from City tonight. They had better be right! Oh, and apparently its not sold out form the home fans

Team Selection

-------------------Valdes------------------
---Alves---Pique---Mascherano---Alba(?)---
---------Xavi-----Busquets---Cesc---------
--------Alexis------Messi-----Iniesta(?)----

My Favourite

Both teams with a point to prove. Barca can't hold on to a lead even if they wanted and City has no options but to attack.
Should be a fun game to watch

And the rest…

2nd leg is here. Both teams coming from defeats. Barça has the advantage of winning the away leg by 2 goals to nil, but I think it's still open. If City scores an early goal, things could get tricky

And I hope the advantage won't make complacency hit our players again. This match could make or break the rest of the season.

Is Alba fit and is Iniesta ready to play? I really liked Tata's formation at the Etihad, I feel we should stick to our guns and replicate it, especially now that we don't have to worry about Demichelis terrorizing our attack, I put Alexis in just because I like him but Pedro would be fine as well. Pique and Mascherano bossed Negredo, he looked useless vs. Wigan today, and Aguero hasn't gotten back to his tip-top best either, we will need to watch out for him though. I am a bit worried about Xavi, he did play full 90 against Almeria and Valladolid both, hopefully he doesn't produce a tired, listless performance and is fresh enough to play, might be worth thinking about playing Song if that's not the case. Neymar is in a bit of a rut at the moment, better to let him come off the bench and hopefully have the same impact as he did at the Etihad, no need to put lots of pressure by starting him

As long as we don't have a terrible start, we should be able to see this through

If the players still keep their weak and indifferent attitude like in recent Liga matches, Man City will beat us to death. They are ten times stronger than Valladolid.

Barca to lose 2-0 and go to penos with man city. Neymar and masch to miss their penos. Man city to the QFs barca to make amends in the summer and make another treble winning team

I need to see a respectful reaction from the players. And the fans need to make the Camp Nou look like hell. City don't have any player with CL experience but Yaya. And we must exploit that. I don't care about the XI, I just want the players to react with the best possible way. Puyol need to set them down before the game

PRIDE is the keyword. Do these players at least have some pride left? If they don't we could suffer yet another defeat and possible exitand do his magic.

Everyone know that the match can go anywhere. With aguero back they can pull off the victory.Just get the win
somehow

The good omen is that City has not been looking too good recently. Barca has had some very good games in 2014, but a higher proportion of bad games than in any stretch for the last several years. City is not ready for this level in the CL, I think the Barca experience with this level of pressure will prove the difference. Even if City gets some goals, Barca will be able to score on them, I see this one 3-2, Barca goes through 5-2 on aggregate.

Seems to be a real lack of interest here on this thread too. Alot of people still arent over the weekend defeat

I have a bad feeling

I was so excited for the first leg....But for this second leg I'm finding it hard to get in the mood.
I have faith in the players but none in Tata

This will be a tough game for us. Im expecting City to fight like hell, and if we dont do the same it could easily be our end. I hope to see jordi alba back in our first team, this guy is just phenomenal, very underrated.

If Pellegrini is smart enough, he must know that every time Barca lost this season, it wasn't by parking the bus and countering

We must score first.

Yes I'm liking that team.
Milner has to play for me with the effort he puts in. I can see Garcia being picked instead though.

Majority of fans polled in Spain, think we can do this.

Makes our Crystal Palace impersonation in the first leg, even more annoying.

I second this. I'm a fan of Milner and I think he can do a good job for us with crosses and corners and he can play anywhere on the patch, allowing for Nasri, Silva and Toure to roam around when we're on the attack.

I don't see us go through, but if we attack and score early, we could shock and stun them giving us a chance. However, I am excited for this match. Barcelona can't really afford to sit back and we must attack to get anything out of the game.
Barcelona will do their usual thing and that is control the ball and we must minimize that, as we need that to score the goals.

I don't understand why teams allow the likes of Barca/Bayern to control the ball.

Arsenal did it last night. We did it v both Bayern & Barca at our place.

Pass the fucking thing, & make them run for it instead. They would be fucked by half time.

One thing I'm not looking forward to is the diving and play acting that will no doubt be happening, especially if we get on top in the game.
We really need a ref that lets the game flow (If there is a such thing)!!

Agreed that is the team Id pick. Sadly Pelle seems to pick Milner once every 6 weeks, and he had 25 mins on sunday so theres little chance he gets a game again now until mid-April.

I didn't see most of the Arse game last night as I wasn't home until 9pm, but when I did put it on I was gob smacked at the lack of urgency fro Arsenal. they were allowing Bayern to knock he ball around their own half at one point and not one arsenal player ventured over the halfway line for about 30 seconds. I would have been screaming blue murder at the lack of urgency, especially having already got 1 away goal, 1 more and it would have been squeaky bum time and ultra defensive mode from Bayern and Arse would have been in it.

When Arsenal went to the Nou Camp a few years back, leading 2-1, they played like Stoke & could barely pass twice without losing the ball. It was disgraceful. Last night, they didn't seem to have any urgency until they fluked a goal, then you could clearly see Bayern were shitting it, but Arsenal didn't play.

We were like that v Barca first leg. Intimidated by the opposition, into thinking we can't play football against them. When we attacked, with ten men, they were a mess.

These teams are of course difficult to stop, but both City & Arsenal could score goals v the likes of Bayern & Barca imo, if they believed they were good enough to do it. I fully expected a 'death or glory' game v Barca at our place. I thought it would be one of the best nights of football I would ever see. Instead I saw an uninspired Barca side pass the ball sideways against a City team who were shit scared of them. I wished I hadn't spent money on it.

We seem to have more belief for tonight, but attacking Barca at the Nou Camp is Russian Roulette. It may work, or we may get dicked. I'm convinced we could have won the first leg by a decent margin & then just picked them off tonight.

We played v Barca, exactly the same way we slag teams for playing at the swamp.

Barcelona is probably not the3 best place to say 'Viva Espana' to be honest, in the current political climate!

When Bayern played Barca last season they were brutal with them. In their face, closed them down, out powered them and then attacked with purpose when they had the ball. I suspect some of the Barca players are still in counseling.

I expected us to do the same in the first leg, yet we looked terrified. Tonight will either be a performance that makes everyone sit up and take notice or leaves them laughing at us. After Sunday, it'd better be the former.
