Yeah right.

Because you never ever hear of sides challenging for the title, struggling v lower table teams, ever. Never happens. The very mention of it as a possibility is stupid.

Don't know what the fuck came over me. Of course games like this are always a piece of piss. History teaches us that.

Fuck me, you took that one personally. It may sound a little arrogant suppose but, like I said, if we are aiming for glory this game should be a formality. It may not be a wholesome win but a win it should be.

I think people are more worried because of our recent form and silly losses away to certain teams. Personally, I think we should be beating the likes of Hull with the team/squad we have.

Edited: To save my Mrs blushes.

Nothing to do with taking it personally.

I just think it's an absolutely ridiculous idea to think that ANY of the upcoming games should be 'formalities' & I'll tell you that Jose Mourinho doesn't think any of Chelsea's games are formalities. You have watched god knows how many title run ins & you have regularly seen teams involved lose or draw games to the likes of Hull.

I don't understand why you are pretending otherwise.

In case your memory genuinely has completely failed, Chelsea, for example, themselves slipped up v Birmingham on the way to one of Mourinho's title wins. They will probably drop points v a similar level team, between now & the end of the season, for the simple reason that these games are ABSOLUTELY NOT formalities, & never, ever, have been.

I'm sorry Ted but I totally disagree. Fair enough, Hull should give us a game but apart from all the ups and downs during the game then the reality should be that we should win. At the start of the season I'd have placed money that we'd beat a team like Hull, less a complete fuck up like Cardiff et al. Then, during our recent goal scoring run, I'd have bet again. No game is a dead cert as that's the beauty of football but on the scale of things, we should be beating the likes of Hull if we are to push for the league. Read that highlighted bit again Ted, what does it say?

Pellers was brought in to bring the team together and give them confidence to play to their abilities. If he does that then we should be able to at least consider us for a shot at the title. If he doesn't, well, I may as well give it up now.

It says something you could say about every team we play. 'IF, we are going to win the league, we should win v ...' It doesn't happen.

The TRUTH is, almost all teams who win the league lose or draw at somewhere like Hull, so it is just plain wrong.

Gonna be even more tricky fixture now if/when Sergio misses it.

Not his finest hour, still carrying an injury and now apparently out again.
Bad news.

Lose and the league is over.

Would not bet against the pony- tailed donkey being back in the team as well.

We've got ample skill , experience and options to beat Hull . Now they can focus, one game at a time.

I know Lescott didn't cover himself in glory at times last night, but he still did some good defensive work against Barcelona and is still our best partner for Kompany out of the options we have, for several reasons:
1. Because his defensive attributes are largely very good during a prolonged period in the side.
2. Kompany produces his best displays when next to Lescott.
3. Demichelis and Nastasic are absolutely useless.

If we partner Kompany-Lescott, we have a chance of re-establishing some sort of strength at the back in the last 2 months of the season.

If we play Demichelis or Nastasic there, we have 1 shite centre back, and Kompany gets himself into a state, having no confidence in his partner.

Then we conduct a full review of defensive options in the summer and ensure we don't find ourselves in this position ever again.

I just hope the players have enough gas in the tank to play with the right intensity against Hull. Ted is absolutely right it's a huge test for the players with more tough away asks to come. If we pull off the title this season it will be a fantastic achievement.

Hull, Fulham, Utd, Arsenal.

Come out of that still in touch with Chelsea & we will win the title imo.

That Palace result is exactly what I was talking about when I posted it. Now as mentioned on tother thread, imo we are in pole position. Not because we have the easiest run in, but because it's a lot easier than it was & you can bet your arse all 3 teams will fuck up here & there from the games remaining.

Chelsea & Liverpool have been trying to dodge being in a title race all season, because they are scared they are going to bottle it. The closer we get to the finish line, the more pressure on all 3.
