My motivation is to improve our knowledge of this period. It may not be directly about City but it's setting the scene for my next papers. Just a word on the history of this paper - it was finalised back in July last year, so it's taken a long time to print. The next papers are also in the process, so watch this space.

Out of interest, what is the title/subject of your PhD?

As to the length of time to publish the paper - I'm still waiting for a paper to be published that was accepted (final draft) in February 2012, on research conducted in 2010. I was told a couple of weeks ago that the journal issue it is in will be published in April this year...

Yes, same's happening with one of my other papers which, I've just been told will be published at some point in 2015. We'll wait and see. The title when I started was The Emergence of An Association Football Culture in Manchester 1850-1904 but the dates have been extended since then (both ways).

My paper is still free to download at the moment - it's now the most downloaded paper in the journal's history and so they've extended the free period (though I don't know how long for). Worth downloading if you haven't yet while it's free: http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10. ... 013.873075

Thanks again for all the comments. My free talk at the National Football Museum on 28th still has a few tickets left (over 80 distributed so far): http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/mancheste ... 9?aff=eorg
Latest book "Manchester The City Years" - the full story of the Blues from the 1860s through to QPR 2012
