Maybe we should re-sign him since our current lot couldn't even manage one against them - on our own ground.
Delighted to hear that the lad is still going strong. I never really rated him - not surprising, given that he's got two left feet - but you could never fault him for trying.
And by all accounts he's been working on his touch, as apparently he displayed particularly good control for the second goal

Ted Hughes wrote:Ishmael Miller scored loads of 'sublime' goals at the younger level & also put in wicked, Kolarov style crosses. But, like 99% of City's academy players from that era, he had ability but no idea how to play football. If he was a kid coming through the present system, it's possible they could have taught him. Imo we missed out on loads of raw talent.

Having two left feet would surely be a boon for a left-footed player.

Not pulled up many trees since mind, and turning into a bit of a "journeyman".
Good luck to him. One of ours.

So what you're saying is, you could have done a better job than the academy coaches at the time? Because you spotted "loads of raw talent" and they didn't?

Big Phil is now playing for Al Jazirah Club of Abu Dhabi which is owned by Sheikh Mansour. So he's still ours (sort of !). Scoring some nice goals and sporting a crazy hairdo.

I'm not a fucking football coach, it's not my job to make players out of them & teach them stuff. It is pretty obvious though, that few City players had a fucking clue how to play when they reached the first team, wheras loads of no mark rags with little talent, were able to step into theirs and do a job. I'm saying that better coaches could have made better players from some of the talent we had & a better system may have helped focus some of them on playing football. I'm saying that if people like Ireland & Lee Croft & Vlad Weiss, even Sturridge, came through the present system, they would be miles better equipped to play high level football. We were better at producing decent quality players for City's first team, before the academy was set up. Fact.

Does that mean there'll be clips of our boy on YouTube with excitable Arab commentators salivating over him?
