I have spent as much time as I care too in the rag forums, and I will be running a full virus check in about ten minutes. Its almost worth it though, to hear the complete, deluded rubbish, ahead of this (non) derby.

They are already making excuses for when they don't win on Tuesday. In fact the big topic on their threads is what a win/loss means in terms of the dippers run for the title. I also Cant believe they are still talking about how we will be gone once our owners get bored with their ’toy’ .

I know some very nice, intelligent rag fans, but for the most part they are seriously deluded, who don't come across as the most intelligent bunch ( no surprise there ).

Let me know if you want a follow up thread after the game, with their thoughts - No matter what the result is - and I will take care of it. As far as I can tell, I cant create a poll.

I really think the count has a handle on how important this game is, and I am less worried about it than I was about yesterdays game.

COME ON CITY !!!

Team Selection

De Gea
Rafael Jones Rio Evra
Fellaini Carrick
Welbeck Mata Januzaj
Rooney

My Favourite

It looks like the midweek win in the CL as well as the victory yesterday might have turned things around just at the right time. A win against City is now looking realistic. Surely it will keep Moyes afloat and tighten the title race at the same time. Come on united!

And the rest…

Start with Kagawa, Adnan, Mata and Rooney. If we show signs like we have in the past 2 games I think we can cause a shock result, I really do. It's imperative that Moyes plays Kagawa and Adnan, with Adnan on the preferred right. Moyes will play Welbeck and Valencia though, that's where he has been flawed this season.

Carrick and Fellaini together in midfield would get battered. I'd rather see Giggs in there. Or a 3-man midfield, which would be my ideal choice. A 2 man midfield won't be enough to cope with Yaya Toure.

I know damage limitation isn't the United way. But City are dangerous and they have a motive. Not to mention, playing at OT hasn't been our strongest factor. City have showed that they can cause damage to the anyone, whether that's the top teams of England or Bayern Munich. Lets get a draw. A point is better than nothing and it keeps up in the race for fifth. I think Spurs will lose to Southampton anyway, so I don't think not capitalising is going to be all that bad.

Knowing Moyes, he'll probably want to win this game for the fans. Could result in a win... or it could result in City ripping us a new one. Who knows. But anyway, i'll take that draw. Sorry for the negativity, but lets try to be realistic here

We need pace in attack and that's why Welbeck should get the nod. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the left and Valencia on the right, and Kagawa to come off the bench if required.

I can see us making hay down City's left-hand side. Clichy/Kolorov is a definite chink in City's armour and we should exploit it, not to mention Demichelis' lack of pace in the centre

Front 6 will be Carrick, Fellaini, Valencia, Mata, Welbeck, Rooney. I would bet your life on it.

Bring 'em on.

I hate that this is at OT.

Big dilemma for me though. Kagawa or Valencia? If Kagawa then Valencia on the right. I wouldn't mind Januzaj on the right to be fair. I think he could do well vs Kolarov.

Valencia is definitely going to start. He will probably be the first name on the team sheet.

Tell welbeck to stand 5 feet from Demichelis and when Mata has the ball, run

Due to the absence of Aguero, I would consider playing Carrick at centre-half again. He was outstanding at Upton Park, and his ability to play out and start us off from the back was key. Negredo will be a test, he is physical, but not as strong as Carroll.

I feel less worried about this one than the one against Liverpool.

Glory Glory Man United!!

Jesus, didn't realise we were playing City so soon. Thought it was next weekend or something..

Only beat them once in the last 5 meetings....Not holding out much hope for this one. Even if we were running away with the league

The lesser of two evils for me. I blinking hate Liverpool although I respect the way they've gone about their business. I hate City as well but my Mum is a City fan but I hate the way they've been handed a golden ticket without putting in the hard work. If it came down to it, I'd plump for City.

I hope we win. I dislike City with a big passion, and while I hate Liverpool, I also respect them. I don't respect City

I'm desperate for us to gain some momentum. Three victories in a row, one of which is the derby, would be a huge confidence boost

No way in hell I want to lose to City.
No way in hell are we going to beat City.
No way in hell are Liverpool going to win the league.
No way in hell John Terry.

Win Tuesday, and we can beat Bayern. Fail and we can’t.

I just want us to win the game. Hopefully Chelsea will beat both City and the Scousers to the title

Win for all the reasons are more important than to spite Liverpool. Boost Moyes. Boost fans. Boost ahead of Bayern.

My biggest concern is if we get a Europa League spot. I'd rather not get involved in that and concentrate on top spot / top 4 next year, just like Liverpool have managed this year

We'll win on Tuesday, but Liverpool won't win the title anyway

I do like the way that they keep throwing Liverpool into their equation, shows a real sense of small-mindedness. Every season I look at where we should be battling and work out my allegiances accordingly. The Derby would always be a one off game where anything could happen but it wasn't important to the season, if you know what I mean. Whereas, they are still using it as a measure of their success and how to pin their hopes on it; Dippers not getting any closer to their beloved 20. I think they've forgotten about the drubbing they gave them last week.

I suppose when you're out of nearly every trophy and languishing (Is it really that bad?) down in 7th with no chance of CL football next season, stuck with a manager who has, and probably won't ever win a trophy with players who are well past their sell-by date, coupled with mounting debt and owners who have no other aim but to take money out of the club, coming up against the team that are vying for their crown, locally and internationally, who have beaten you home and away, very resoundlingly apart form one freak deflection that brought a glimmer of hope, then I suppose that's all you can hope for really.

It's not all bad then ;-)

Magic video you posted there. Had it all, Kiddo scoring, totally camp ref, crap pitch, Stepney saving then seeming to forget where the ball had gone, cracking penalty from Frannie Lee....just hope that there's no precedent in one of their goals where our keeper and captain screw up a fairly standard ball into the box!

What exactly is "hard work"? Does this go back to their team all being homegrown and Bosman's or back to the fact we still have no history?

Considering how much 'history' we're constantly told that United have, it's quite incredible how few of their fans actually know any of it.

It doesn't take a lot of reading to learn how many times United have used outside investment to improve their fortunes on the pitch, e.g. in the early 1900s when a group of businessmen got together to invest heavily in the club, buying many of City's best players. Or after Old Trafford was destroyed during the war and they needed outside investment to rebuild the ground.

Whenever I've had a United fan try to criticise how City have risen to the top in recent years, I raise points like the above and it usually stumps them as they are trying to work out if it's true or not as they realise they know little of their own past. Then they usually come out with "well, that was years ago so it doesn't matter now" - the response of someone who knows they have lost the argument.

Another major positive was the lack of Michael Owen's co-commentary...

What does Marouane Fellaini actually do?

I don't think I've ever hated a player that plays for United as much as I do Fellaini. It literally hurts my soul watching him play for us. Not only is he a terribly useless, pointless and talentless lump....he's also a lazy, coward of a player.

He brings absolutely nothing to the team, nothing at all. I keep seeing people describe him as 'strong', but he's not. He's big and tall yes, but that doesn't automatically make him strong. He's constantly getting outmuscled by far smaller and physically less imposing players. He also regularly ducks out of any physical tackles, and now seems to have resorted to cowardly and pathetic attacks on other players. He's an absolute disgrace.

Not only does he have no real talent, defensively he can't tackle, can't mark, has no positional sense, is possibly the clumsiest player I've ever seen at United, and has the mobility of an oil tanker. While offensively he offers pretty much nothing unless the ball is in the air. Infact, the only real standout ability he has is that he can bring the ball down on his chest like no one else I've ever seen. If chest control from long punts forward was an ability that defined a player, he'd be the best in the world. Unfortunately, unless you play for Stoke, its pretty much pointless.

But the one thing that makes me absolutely lose my shit, that makes me go beyond not really liking him, to passionately hating him, is just how unbelievably lazy he is. He just casually saunters round the pitch, he jogs here and there, occasionally he'll put some effort in to get into the area, but once we lose the ball, he just watches as the opposition stream forward, while he just jogs back, as if he has all the time in the world. Its one thing to not be good enough technically, but its quite another to think you have the right to put in as minimal amount of effort as you can get away with. Berbatov, who was 10000x the player Fellaini is, did that, and couldn't get away with it. So god knows why Fellaini thinks its acceptable, especially as he's playing centre bloody midfield!

I hope the FA review that incident with Zabaletta and ban him for at least 3 games. Purely to take away Moyes' ability to select him.

Much if this is correct.

Though I almost hate to break it to you but you do play like Stoke. You are like Stoke and there are only two teams separating you in the league. Cheer up, it could get worse yet!
