Edin Dzekoooooo

I'm sorry but I really don't understand anyone who slates Edin, that was his 99th league game for city, he has scored 60 goals!
60/146 a quality goals to games ratio for a third choice striker! A few games he looks a little lethargic but you cant argue with them stats!
Just thought he deserves his own thread!

60 in 146 is not 60 in 99...

I've been a big critic in the past but I have to say that he was exceptional tonight. Well done Edin! Special mentions must also go to Vinnie, Yaya, Silva and Fernandinho - what a midfield we have!

I was disappointed he got pulled. I'd have loved to have seen him get a hat trick.

We still don't play to his strengths. His second goal was a beauty.

Dzeko was excellent tonight & my motm.

Should have had two more goals but you forgive that, when a player puts in the required shift. He did what we require him to do & if he played like that regularly, very few people would criticise him.

I think he's recently played like someone who wants to stay at City & is giving them a question to answer re a new contract.

But it's still doubtful he will be offered one.

Probably the first guy in the history of football to hit 20 goals in 39 games during a season and still get lambasted.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I couldn't believe how deep he tracked and he sat in front of the defence when Zaba was off getting treated. A very good performance from Edin last night, if he kept that level of intensity up every game he would be THE star man.

It's only down to inconsistency, but the reality is that we have now got two very good strikers who, on their day will score goals for fun, but whether they turn up or not is anybody's guess. Suppose it comes down to the managers ability to motivate them and work out which one is in form and willing to run the hard yards on any given day.

He is an extremely intelligent player, knows where the goal is and a valuable member of the squad. I can't think who, even on his bad days, we would realistically replace him with who would be CONSISTENTLY better

At the start of the season, Negredo was significantly better, & tbf if he was producing that level now, he would be most people's preference up front. But he isn't reaching that level, in fact he hasn't even been reaching Adebayor's level in recent games. We needed Dzeko to turn up & he has done.

I'm not convinced that the Count ever intended to start most games with 2 strikers though. Last night's formation was more like the Count's preferred lineup. People are saying it was 4-2-3 -1 but it wasn't, it was still 4-2-2 but with Silva rather than a conventional striker. Naturally, he gets involved in the midfield stuff, but he was still one of two upfront, at the start.

That position was where Isco was supposed to be, & where Jovetic is supposed to be.

So imo, it will be more common in the future to see 1 striker plus Jovetic or similar. Therefore we have three out & out strikers competing for one position. Dzeko will be the one who goes if anyone does, I recon. But on this season, he doesn't deserve to be pushed out. It's economics in the end though.

We won't find a better 3rd choice striker who keeps his mis givings to himself when he is left out.

A frustrating guy to watch at times with the footballing ability of a championship player mixed with world class goal scoring ability. If he was our number 1 striker he would get 30 goals a season.

I would only be willing to let him go if someone came in with silly money and we bought Lukaku as our number 3 striker. We would be screwed this season if it was not for his ability to chip in when Aguero and Negredo have got injured.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It will be for financial reasons if he goes. Because one year later we will lose him for nothing.

good performance. however, for every game like the one last night, dzeko has 3 where he appears to be legally blind and/or using prosthetic feet. baffling really.

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

You really have generally dislike for Edin ( moaning all the time about him) and that is not about Football ,to write that crap after two good performance from him is kind a crapish from City fan.

Correct.
Guy is pure out and out goalscorer and should be judged as such. Reminds me of Pippo Inzaghi with his combination of instincts and lack of general technical ability. I really can't think of better third choice striker.
