If we had beaten Wigan.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

If we had beaten Wigan.

Postby Ted Hughes » Fri May 02, 2014 10:14 am

Somewhere in this period, we would have had to find a space to play Liverpool at Anfield, with several players carrying injuries etc, then Everton etc.

Title would be gone.

Then we'd arrive at Wembley with half a knackered team to face a buzzing, fresh bunch of Tarquins.

Thank you Uwe for saving us from our ridiculous delusions of competing in 4 competitions with the current squad.

the fixture backlog was a headache we all knew was a difficult ask.

Lets hope we put the quadruple/treble talk behind us and win the double :-) I know Jamie "spiceboy" Redknapp will say its the least we should be aiming for with the money we have spent

OR, had we won there, and again at Wembley, we would've needed to squeeze in the Liverpool game somewhere, maybe inbetween Sunderland & West Brom matches... problem? maybe, but I have to say I think the outcome of those three games would've been exactly the same (WDL). same goes for Palace, even with FA Cup run still going why couldn't we have won there? and same goes for the last three games imo.

So I say that's bollocks but we will never know. I know I'm still gutted we lost that day.

Alternative viewpoint.

If we make a town halls of it at Everton on Saturday, or in the last 2 home games, we'd at least potentially have had an FA Cup final and another pot to win.

The theory works well if you can confirm we will win the Prem, which given our record at Everton its 50-50 at best that we win there even with my best blue specs on.

Keep believing lee :-).

I dont think we'll balls it up even if it is a bogey ground but...... a draw wouldn't surprise me another twist in all this yet. Hope not though.

I think physical fatigue for playing an the odd extra game during the week is bollocks sometimes.

they are paid obscene amounts of money and train regularly to a high standard and are in fit condition. how they get nackard after a match which essentially is a 6 to 7 mile jog?

Are you serious? It's a multi directional sport it's hard work. A jog? What planet are you on. Course they get tired because the game is played at a high tempo. Any slight fatigue at that level is noticeable.

Liverpool beat us anyway. Chelsea have had four harder games than the two we would have had to face. Don't think it makes a blind bit of difference. We should still have a squad to deal with two harder games. The final against Hull given our strenght in depth and expeirence of cup finals should be (didnt do as much good last year) an easy win.

Give me the Leauge over two cups any day of the week. Winning the FA cup would not would not make up for throwing away the league from this posistion.

i run at least 10km each time i go out. that's at least 5 times a week. I also train on a wednesday night and play on saturday mornings. ( admittedly senior football). I also work about 50 hours a week. What's the problem ? a two game week and massage and training and enough sleep that the modern pro has . Is sufficient.

So some of you think, Silva, Yaya, Zabba, Aguero etc would be able to play at Everton Saturday, Anfield Monday, v Villa Wednesday & v West Ham on Sunday & we would not pick up any more injuries, win 3 of those games then take the title, then even if we missed the title, everyone would be fit as a fiddle to face Arsenal the following weekend.

Ok.

Winning that may have given us confidence to go on and beat Barca. Oh well, there's always next year.

We need a team of robots. Not a team of humans with their frailties, injuries and fatigue.

Yep, robots.

Never mention injuries. I'm talking about not being nackard and being able to give 100% per game.

It's "knackered". As in "taking the horse to the knackers yard". Ffs How do you expect to be taken seriously ?

When I was about 13 or 14 I used the word 'Knackered' in an analogy in an English lesson. The teacher (Mrs Davenport (the bitch)) gave me a right going over and actually gave me a slap a few days later (apparently for bullying a bully).

Seems the word 'Knackered' isn't to be used in the English vocabulary, which is a twatting fucking shame.
