i run at least 10km each time i go out. that's at least 5 times a week. I also train on a wednesday night and play on saturday mornings. ( admittedly senior football). I also work about 50 hours a week. What's the problem ? a two game week and massage and training and enough sleep that the modern pro has . Is sufficient.

Ok.

Never mention injuries. I'm talking about not being nackard and being able to give 100% per game.

Carrying injuries is one of the main reasons half the team look fucked half the time. Lots of players are playing through a pain barrier by this stage of the season & that adds to the mental & physical fatigue, then the injury goes worse & they miss a game.

If we had to play four games this week, we'd probably be missing Yaya, Silva, Aguero, Zabba, Fernandinho & probably Vinny for two of them, then possibly a couple would be done for several weeks. They are all on the limit.

We would have had another trip to Wembley. The dippers game wouldn't have been on Hillsborough anniversary and the result couldn't have been worse than the one we got.

Yes the players are tired. Yes we may or may not have picked up injuries. So fuckin what. They are athletes. When push comes to shove, with 3 or 4 games left with the end in sight i reckon sheer bloodimindness would still have seen us home. Just my thoughts

Little to do with tiredness, all to do with injuries. We would be playing Liverpool away on Monday, and we would be four games away from the title, not three. We would not feel as if we were about to win it & imo would have no chance of doing so.

We would also be going to the game 3 points ahead Liverpool. Rest the first team in that game, lose by a goal or two and we'd be in the same position in the league as we are right now AND we'd have a cup final to look forward to.

NOBODY knows what would've happened had we won that day, but just like there is a chance for us to win the league now there could've been a chance to win the FA Cup as well.

You may be right, your case is probably the most probable one but IMO this is a pointless thread. Basically similar to situations where you look back and think "what if I had made an effort to get that bird from accounting..."

It's not a case of 'looking back' for me, it's a case of watching us overplaying players in the lesser games & risking the important competitions.

I was making this point when the Count got Zabba injured playing him v Leicester in a League Cup game when he was struggling. I made this point when a squadren of clowns were bombing the Count for actually resting a couple of players v Wigan & playing THIS side:

30 Pantilimon
02 Richards
22 Clichy
42 Yaya Touré
26 Demichelis
06 Lescott
15 Jesús Navas
14 Javi García
16 Agüero
09 Negredo
08 Nasri

Yes there were actually people queueing up, to slag off Pellegrini for playing that WEAKENED side v Wigan.

It seems fucking unbelieveble now that we are running on fumes trying to finish off a title with injured players everywhere doesn't it ? But there were actually various titheads kicking up shit slaughtering the Count because we started that 11 v Wigan.

The point of this thread is to show how fucking ridiculous that attitude is, & hopefully we don't need the same bollocks if we do genuinely rest players in some domestic cup games next season.

The way we have worked the squad this time, we could not have competed for the Champions League & the title. Because we fucked the players up in the League & FA Cups. If we'd beaten Barca too, we would be triple fucked.

Next season we should prioritise & give one or two of the kids a few games.

Agree about the kids but has Vieira brought forward anyone apart from Lopes to make the jump to first team squad or are we waiting for the under 18s to come through? Forget FFP the club"s whole strategy depends on bringing some kids through because the sheikh does not want to spend 50-100 million every fucking transfer window which I completely understand.

The best kids from the current EDS are still imo a year away from being genuine City squad players, if any make it at all.

But so were most of the players Ferguson used when they started, some of whom ended up winning the title. Some sunk without trace, some found a way to swim. The players who survived, he used again & it allowed him to rest the key players for the key games; job done. Some became regulars.

It doesn't matter if they are stars, so long as they can do a job without letting the side down. They don't have to stay forever if better kids come through.

Over the years, I've found that sometimes players are better in the first team than they were in the reserves. It suits them.

.... we could've/would've/should've been on for the treble.

Ah well, still a double in sight. I'm happy with that.

I'd be delighted with just the title in any season. A title & Cup double would be our biggest haul ever.

If we had beaten Wigan ...

We'd be playing a semi final against Arsenal, nothing else ... then it's if we had won that we'd be playing the Final ... and so on ...

If we had beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge ...
If we had beaten Barca at home ...
If we had scored an extra goal at Bayern ...
If we had beaten Arsenal at Emirates ...
If we had beaten Liverpool ...

We didn't ... that's the point ... can we live in the present and perhaps try and learn for future ... if this and if that and if what does nothing!

No actually, it's not the point at all.

I was talking about the extra games we'd have to play & the amount of injuries we are carrying.

Try reading the fucking thread.
